Here come old flattop he come grooving up slowly
He got joo-joo eyeball he one holy roller
He got hair down to his knee
Got to be a joker he just do what he please

He wear no shoeshine he got toe-jam football
He got monkey finger he shoot coca-cola
He say 'I know you, you know me'
One thing I can tell you is you got to be free
Come together right now over me

He bag production he got walrus gumboot
He got Ono sideboard he one spinal cracker
He got feet down below his knee
Hold you in his armchair you can feel his disease
Come together right now over me

He roller-coaster he got early warning
He got muddy water he one mojo filter
He say 'One and one and one is three'

Got to be good-looking 'cause he's so hard to see
Come together right now over me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Zion I a.k.a. Baba Zumbi's song Come Together represent the free-spirited and unconventional nature of the character Flattop. Flattop is described as grooving up slowly, with joo-joo eyeball and hair down to his knee. He has no shoeshine and shoots coca-cola with his monkey finger. Flattop is a free spirit and joker who does what he pleases. The lyrics are a call to unity and freedom, with the line "Come together right now over me." It is a call to all people to come together and be free, regardless of their differences.

The second verse of the song describes Flattop's possessions and characteristics. He has walrus gumboots, a Ono sideboard, and is a spinal cracker. He is described as having feet down below his knee, and holding people in his armchair. The lyrics describe a roller-coaster ride with early warning and muddy water, but also a "mojo filter." The line "One and one and one is three" is a reference to the unity and collaboration called for in the song. The final line, "Got to be good-looking 'cause he's so hard to see" suggests that Flattop is not concerned with traditional physical appearance, but rather with inner beauty and character.

As someone who has met and worked with him and know many of his contacts, it’s very shocking to hear he was involved in an altercation. People had only known him to be someone who spoke of non aggression unless in self defense. His shows were never violent and his music never encouraged it. I hope that at some point witnesses come forward as well as camera footage at the hospital to show what truly led up to this unfortunate event. We were told an “altercation” happened when Oscar Grant died until the camera footage showed he was already cuffed and on the ground. Either way, I personally knew of him as a stand up citizen who brought love and peace with him wherever he went.

So unbelievable... dopest person ever... a true good role model

@dubesquire6329

Whats going on with the investigation? IHaven't seen any more coverage of this!

@TenderloinsToughest

Zumbi was one of the most peaceful people on the planet. I really hope the truth comes out and we get justice for his boys,family and extended crew. It’s absolutely abhorrent that he goes to the hospital for help and this is the end product.

@alexlopez5800

His music is legendary. R.I.P true bay legend...🙏

@dianaprince9311

@Victor-it6bv

Physical altercation at the hospital? Is this WWE?

@anthonnyflores640

How sad

@jessemartin3125

If he was at the 4th floor elevators around 5 am maybe he was trying to leave and they wouldn't let him even though he had the legal right to leave. I was at Alta Bates once and I was able to get out of there thank God or I would have died. Berkeley people overreact to anger and self-assertion and maybe they got into a control trip with this man who just wanted to leave. I don't know what happened but I know that place and that town.
