Drawing lyrical inspiration from a multitude of areas be it 80's movies and all things "gnarly and shred tastic", ZLAM DUNK has shared the stage with the likes of Fang Island, Foxy Shazam, Touche Amore, Har Mar Superstar, Good Old War, Holy Fuck and even opened up for Paul Wall on their third show ever! ZLAM DUNK is not meant to be heard but to be felt as well. A surefire band capturing all that is rowdy, energetic and uncontrollable in music, brace yourself for what is the punk rock/audible equivalent of garage rock and post hardcore's child having just downed a case of Four Loko. - Solid PR

Zlam Dunk Lyrics

So finely made
These city lights
Won't seem to fade
A never ending cycle
Of things in the past
One of these days
These nights won't last
One of these days these nights won't last
One of these days these nights won't last
And this sweet sweet city
The streets paved with gold
And no more work
Cause I've sold my soul
To the man that lives
On down this street
He's moving now
To a different beat
All these streets
Filled with crime
Trust me baby
It's just a matter of time
Before the clock runs dry
You'll pay the price
Cause it's not what you dreamed
In the city of vice
No it's not what you dreamed in the city of vice
No it's not what you dreamed in the city of vice
And this sweet sweet city
The streets paved with gold
And no more work
Cause I've sold my soul
To the man that lives
On down this street
He's moving now
To a different beat
And this sweet sweet city
The streets paved with gold
And no more work
Cause I've sold my soul
To the man that lives
On down this street
He's moving now
To a different beat
In "Vice," Zlam Dunk presents a portrait of urban life that is both glamorous and tainted. The song begins by describing the beauty of the city, with finely made structures and bright lights that refuse to fade away. However, this beauty disguises a darker side of the city - a despairing cycle of past decisions that seems endless, waiting for a time when the days and nights will not linger.
The second half of the verse describes the singer's agreement with the "man that lives on down this street." This agreement has allowed the singer to give up on work and live a life free of obligations. However, this freedom is not without its own issues. The man's morals seem suspect, and he is moving now to a different, possibly darker, beat, suggesting that problems are brewing beneath the surface.
In the chorus, the song reaches its climax, as the singer confronts a reality much darker than the alluring beauty of the city. All these streets are filled with crime, and the passing of time is a constant reminder that there is a price to be paid for this city life. The promise of gold may seem tempting, but in the end, it's not what it seems to be; the city of vice is a hotbed of corruption and tainted aspirations.

My two boys and I were in 6th Street Austin one night and heard live music. We went up these stairs and saw Zlam Dunk playing live. It was awesome and bought yall CD. In my very first car I'd drive and often put that CD in. 10 years later my buddies and I have gone separate ways but we still talk about Zlam Dunk and especially this song.
