Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction play an ultra sleazy style of commercial hard rock featuring big riffs and big choruses, as was the trend in the band’s heyday of the mid-to-late 80s and early 90s. The outrageously camp lyrics are intended as self-parody, and can be seen as either humorous (by those who "get the joke") or offensive (by those who take them at face value) for their often lascivious and misogynist tone. Song titles like "Back Seat Education," "Feed My Frankenstein," "High Heeled Heaven" and "Trash Madonna" illustrate Zodiac’s tongue-in-cheek approach. Lyrical content also exhibits a send up of cult worship, often of Zodiac Mindwarp’s self proclaimed raging libido, with the frontman claiming the titles of "sex führer," "love dictator" and "high priest of love." Songs such as "Holy Gasoline," "President of the United States of Love," "Messianic Reprise," "Planet Girl" and "Elvis Died for You" are similarly inclined.
The video for the band's track "Prime Mover" was directed by Comic Strip actor/comedian Adrian Edmonson. Featuring explosions, scantily-clad young women and the band as alien invaders it immaculately captured the band's nasty, posturing style.
Occasionally referred to as "biker rock," the band’s style of hard rock is reflected in their outlandish attire, which tends to parody the post-apocalyptic "Mad Max" biker look. However, they have adopted a more common "street look" in recent years.
Zodiac co-wrote the track "There's a Barbarian in the Back of My Car" on the Voice of the Beehive album Let It Bee. He also co-wrote the track "Feed My Frankenstein" which appeared on the Alice Cooper album Hey Stoopid. Zodiac Mindwarp and The Love Reaction recorded their own version of the song which appeared on the album Hoodlum Thunder.
In 1992 Zodiac appeared on the album 456 by The Grid, singing lead vocals on the album's final track "Fire Engine Red." Love Reaction guitarist Cobalt Stargazer also appeared on the same album, performing on the tracks "Face The Sun" and "Leave Your Body".
In recent years Mark Manning has established himself as author penning books entitled Bad Wisdom (with Bill Drummond), Crucify Me Again, Get Your Cock Out, Fucked By Rock, Collateral Damage and The Wild Highway (again with Bill Drummond).

Love Is Woman Baby, Love Is The Truth
Well I Ain't A Woman That's For Sure
I'll Say Anything To Get You On The Floor
You Look So Fine Pure And Good
I Wanna Throw You On The Ground Babe
And Cover You In Mud
Silver Tongued But I Ain't No Liar
I'm The Tattooed Beat Messiah
Baby Nobody Can Take You Higher
I'm The Reverb Saint I'm The King Of Flies
I Think You Guessed I Ain't Like Other Guys
Lay Down, Lie Back, Shut Up, Submit
Peel It Off Baby This Is It.
I Got A Six Shooting Schizo Psycho Rod
Kiss The Barrel Baby Meet Your God

The lyrics of Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction's song Tattooed Beat Messiah seem to celebrate physical attraction and sexual appeal. The opening lines talk about the physical beauty of a woman being a proof of love being the truth. The singer then goes on to claim that he is not a woman but would say anything to get the woman on the floor. He desires the woman and wants to cover her in mud. He then claims that he is a silver-tongued person, but he is not a liar. He wants the woman to set his bed on fire.
The chorus of the song reinforces the singer's persona as the tattooed beat messiah who can take nobody higher than his love interest. He then goes on to describe himself as the "reverb saint" and "king of flies," implying that he loves his rebellious, rock and roll persona. The singer then demands submission from the woman and promises to peel off her clothes. He makes references to his gun and how he is going to kill the woman twice, implying a sense of danger and violence in his character. In the end, the singer embraces his identity as the Tattooed Beat Messiah, declaring himself to be one with his persona.

One of the most underrated bands... fuck underrated... they weren't even acknowledged... God Knows Why.
They do AC DC better than AC DC they do Halen better than Halen certainly better than David Lee Roth they do Alice Cooper as well as Alice Cooper in the lyrics are genius. Maybe they weren't acknowledge because I heard that zodiac actually was a writer for some rag and reviewed albums and even if the stuff is borrowed or regurgitated... there's nothing wrong with that there's only so many chords in the universe and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that if you do it as well or better... I'm a musician myself and I'm telling you these guys do it as well or better in most cases better... just got to make David Lee Roth look like a joke.. this guy can actually sing and the lyrics are just genius" neon flowers start to Fizz when I kiss your lips" how cool is that? So motherfuking cool!" Solid gold love in a rat skin fur"? It's like I said before even if it's borrowed... so what... that's even better... cuz it shows HOW IT SHOULD
HAVE BEEN DONE!!!!! I shouldn't even have made that comparison about David Lee Roth who ripped off Jim Dandy from Black Oak Arkansas anyways. but this is so far out of David Lee Roth's concept of anything... think this guy puts Jim Morrison to shame....
but then again I always hated the Boors... with that only keyboard of the time sound... that horrible bar mitzvah farfisa keyboard... so every song sounds like you're at little David's bar mitzvah... you know what I mean? It's like Paul Shaffer get a clue... horrible sound makes everything sound like shit. anyways I'm digressing.
Zodiac forever... and you guys agree with what I'm saying check out a band called stray dog it's like 1973 or something or two a three piece band like zodiac the one album is just... what can you say it should be like in the sound Museum I think I had two albums the first albums the one that you want you'll know it's the right one if it's got a song on it called Tramp
anyways it's pretty cool YouTube has it.
I'm out. Harry

Blasting this out in honour of my mate Gareth who would have been 50 today. We knew we were on to something good when, as teenagers we were scolded by my parent and told to “turn that rubbish down”. Apparently the illegaly bought alcohol wasn’t a problem. Happy Birthday big man. Rest easy.
