Zyklon is, according to Samoth, a play on the word "cyclone" and no relation to the nerve agent Zyklon B used by the Nazis. Despite Samoth being in a previous project called Zyklon-B along with Emperor member, Ihsahn, among others, the two bands are separate bands and played a different style of Metal.
All of the band's lyrics are written by ex-Emperor drummer Faust . Most of the lyrics revolve around themes like anti-religion, misanthropy, and philosophy.
Zyklon's debut album, entitled World ov Worms, was quite similar to that of Destructhor's band Myrkskog's album Deathmachine. The album is made up of extremely fast riffing and blast beats aided by the vocals of Daemon (of Limbonic Art). However, after this release, Zyklon changed. Myrkskog drummer (and later Emperor live bassist) Secthdamon joined and handled vocals and bass.
Zyklon's second album, Aeon, exposed the band to more media attention. The production is much clearer and music videos were made for two tracks, Core Solution and Psyklon Aeon.
The band's third effort, Disintegrate, was released on May 15, 2006 to great critical acclaim. It was recorded in November - December 2005 at the "Akkerhaugen Lydstudio", in Norway.
Samoth finally announced the split-up of the band on January 7, 2010.

Hammer Revelation
Zyklon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The beast, the dragon, as in shadowy imagery,
Have the power to take away peace on earth.
The threshold's here as the sun turns black,
The moon red like blood and stars falling down.
Babylon falling, the last of the antagonistic battles,
The madman chained for a thousand of years.
A moment of your time, a glimpse of your (brave) new world
Your revelation, in apocalyptic terms,
The hammer, separating fiction from reality.
Embrace the notion, embrace the moment.
Who are the ones to tell the truth,
Who are the ones to tell what to believe?
The depiction is therefore all you've got.
The hammer is mine, the revelation is yours.
Am I God or am I the Devil?
It's a comprehensible, yet complex, reality,
Because it means that when the past has caught up with the present,
We have no future.
The lyrics of Zyklon's song Hammer Revelation tell a story of a world falling into chaos and ruin, with the lamb and lion depicted in a deplorable way and the beast and dragon having the power to destroy peace on earth. The imagery is shadowy and apocalyptic, as the sun turns black and the moon turns red like blood, while the stars fall down. The last antagonistic battle is fought, Babylon falls, and the madman is chained for a thousand years. The lyrics suggest that the moment of revelation has arrived, and it is up to the listener to embrace the reality of the situation and separate fiction from reality.
The lyrics pose questions about who are the ones to tell the truth and what to believe, and the answer is that the depiction of the world is all we have. The hammer and the revelation are the listener's to embrace, and the lyrics leave open the possibility that the singer could be either God or the Devil. The reality of the situation is both comprehensible and complex, and the lyrics suggest that when the past catches up with the present, there may be no future.
