This story was awesome and it showed batman as not only a symbol of fear but also a symbol of hope for Gotham City and the world. This is why I believe that batman can wield all the rings of the emotional spectrum
1. Will- as he has already wielded it and he has the strongest willpower in all of comics.
2. Hope- as he is a symbol of hope for Gotham and the world.
3. Fear- very obvious.
4. Life- as he never kills and has already wielded it.
5. Death- already wielded it.
6. Compassion- as he tries to help everyone, from his Robins to even his villans
7. Love- he never shows it but he loves his family and friends more than his life.
8. Rage- he is vengeance.
The only one that does not fit is avarice.

This is why the "Batman beats up mentally ill people instead of helping them with his money" joke bugs me. Batman is one of the most optimistic and compassionate heroes DC has but for whatever reason people seem to think that Frank Miller's hyper brutal depiction is the right one. This is was a perfect end to a masterfully written run.

@biohazard724 he somewhat recently just beat the SHIT out of dick in the bat cave to make dick "prove" he still has what it takes after he was just abused and tortured.
He also kicks the living crab out of Jason recently after Jason is forced to kill someone to save a kid. Doesn't care. Still beats Jason within an inch of his life.
Those are just the most recent examples.

@Aaron What manipulation? When has he mistreated Jason? Or taught through violence? Also his plans to deal with the JL are in case any of them go rogue. Superman himself gave Batman a Kryptonite sample for that very reason. The League's issue with the Agamemnon contingency was that it was stolen and used against them.
