Invisible Man
coopertheband Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ground still is ceased at shaking
I′m an invisible man but at least I'm breathing
Chest aches but you float beside me
Two ghosts are on the streets they use to own alone

I′ll breathe
The trees will part and I'll, I'll see the sunrise
I′ll believe
That after all this time our hearts will still be intertwined

Ground shakes from the drum that′s beating
I'm an invisible man, I don′t feel like dancing
Remember your body's swaying
So I start to dance even if I′m dancing alone

I'll breathe
The trees will part and I′ll, I'll see the sunrise
I'll believe
That after all this time our hearts will still be intertwined

I′ll breathe
The trees will part and I′ll, I'll see the sunrise
I′ll believe
That after all this time our hearts will still be intertwined

I'll breathe
The trees will part and I′ll, I'll see the sunrise
I′ll believe
That after all this time our hearts will still be intertwined

I'll breathe
The trees will part and I'll, I′ll see the sunrise
I′ll believe
That after all this time our hearts will still be intertwined

Our hearts will still be intertwined

Overall Meaning

The first stanza of "Invisible Man" portrays the feelings of isolation and loneliness that the singer of the song is experiencing. He is an "invisible man," who feels unseen in the world, yet he takes comfort in the fact that he is still alive and breathing. He is walking down the streets that he used to own alone, and now there are two other ghosts with him. Perhaps these ghosts are memories of a former lover, friend or family member, but they are not defined in the lyrics. In the second stanza, the singer hears a drum beating which he feels in his body, but he still feels invisible and unable to dance. However, he remembers how his body used to sway, and he starts to dance, even if he is dancing alone.

The chorus of the song suggests hope and optimism in regards to reconnecting with someone. The singer believes that he will be able to see the sun rise again, and that his heart will still be intertwined with the other person's heart, even after time has passed. This can be interpreted as the singer's hope of reconciling with someone or finding a new person who will understand and accept him. Overall, the song speaks to universal themes of isolation, longing, and the resilience of the human spirit.
