With his father in the RAF, Dominic lived in many different places as a child. But wherever they were,
there were always great house parties, where friends would enjoy records from the likes of Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, Elvis Presley, Louis Prima and Frank Sinatra. Dominic was allowed to stay up late if he changed the records on the record player. So that was where Dominicโs love for music of that type originated.
From a young age, Dominic knew he wanted to be a musician and at the tender age of 15 put together his first band โ a rockabilly band called Rocking Red Roosters โ playing local gigs in and around
Manchester where Dominic was living at the time. He had various โdayโ jobs but music was always his real passion.
In his early twenties, Dominic decided to move to Australia where he met some other musicians with the same passion for music and formed a band, eventually known as Dominic Halpin & The Suspects, who became well respected throughout the Sydney area, becoming regular entertainers at the Sydney Harbour Casino.
In 2005, Dominic returned to the UK โ back to the Manchester area โ and met up with friend and saxophone player Nigel McGill. Between them, they put together swing band Dominic Halpin & The Honey Bโs. Since bursting onto the scene, Dominic Halpin & The Honey Bโs have established themselves as one of the most in-demand acts in the UK. With an impressive list of show dates - from Blenheim Palace to a headline show at the Abu Dhabi International Jazz Festival - and a client list including Simon Cowell, Elle McPherson and The Savoy, London, their energetic floor show and swinginโ rhythms have entertained audiences not only throughout the UK, but also all over the world.
As well as performing, Dominic has written many songs and musical pieces, some of which have been used in foreign media. In 2007, his music featured on the Hollywood film Dorm Daze II and has also appeared in several American television series, including Brothers and Sisters and MTVโs hit show Runs House. Dominicโs version of โSwayโ was recently used in a new Russian film โHitler Kaputโ and is also
available on the soundtrack.
Dominicโs creativity is not limited to writing songs. He has produced recordings and videos for many local artists. For one of his self-penned songs โ โSenor Blueโ โ Dominic wrote, directed, produced and edited the video which has scored many hits on You Tube. He has also undertaken projects to produce videos for a number of corporations.

In Dominic Halpin's song "Mambo," the lyrics express the desire for a deeper connection and a passionate dance between two individuals. The singer suggests that they may be the one who deserves to be treated right and the one who will stay through the night. They claim to be the only one present who knows how to Mambo, which symbolizes both their confidence and their unique understanding of the dance. By inviting the listener to let them try and experience what they mean, the singer hints at the potential for a transformative experience.
The lyrics depict a sense of urgency, as the singer warns that if the listener doesn't give them a chance, they may cause a scene. This emphasizes their strong desire to be recognized and appreciated. The repetition of the phrase "baby you've got it" highlights the singer's fascination with the listener's talent for Mambo. They view this talent as something special and enticing.
The song also portrays a growing connection between the two individuals. The singer reveals a secret that the listener needs to know and encourages them to find a girl before they can continue. This implies the need for emotional readiness before they can fully engage in the Mambo. The lyrics further suggest that the listener's eyes ignite a fire in the singer's heart, and the solution to this burning desire is to engage in the Mambo.
Ultimately, the song conveys the idea that through the art of Mambo, the two individuals can communicate and express their desires without the need for words. It is a passionate dance that can lead to a deep connection between them.
