"Mr.Sadness"

Laugh at me, everyone.
It's true that she left here.
I thought I wish it was a joke.
But there's nothing in her room.

I'm alone again, but I don't need
Words to comfort me anymore.
I'm alright cuz I'm used to this kind of thing.

I'm just like a broken toy.
Feeling sad but smiling.
Drinking so much whiskey.
Speaking inarticulately.

I'm alone again, but I don't need
Words to comfort me anymore.
I'm alright cuz I'm used to it, my life is always so...

Mr.Sadness, wait a little!
Mr.Sadness, please don't let me cry.
Cuz everyone feels down, looking at my crying face.
Don't let me cry.
Mr.Sadness, let me keep smiling!

Oh at least until my friends leave here.
Let me hope...

Overall Meaning

Dustbox's song "Mr.Sadness" is a reflection of the sorrowful moment one undergoes after a breakup. The singer in the song is experiencing this feeling of loneliness and emptiness after their partner has left. The beginning of the song speaks of how the singer has become a source of laughter for everyone else since their breakup; this could have been due to the extreme sadness they must have displayed or the fact that everyone knew about the breakup except for them.

The second verse portrays how the singer had wished that the breakup could have been a joke or a mistake, and how their realization of the sheer emptiness in their ex-partner's room showed them that the breakup was, in fact, a reality. The chorus features the singer calling out to someone called "Mr.Sadness" who seems to be a personification of their own emotions. They are begging Mr.Sadness not to let them cry in front of their friends and to let them keep up the facade of a fake smile.

The bridge, which features the singer drinking whiskey and slurring their words, shows how they are trying their best to cope with their emotions by drowning them in alcohol, but it is not helping them. The song ends on a hopeful note, where the singer begs Mr.Sadness to let them keep smiling until their friends leave but is also hoping for a chance of reconciliation with their ex-partner in the future.
