The trigger was your words.
My memories were like stardust on that day
Nothing is here.
Pieces of my heart, looking for a place to belong.
'cause they wanna stick together.
Pieces of my heart, sleeping in someone's secrets
Time doesn't stop for me at all.
My memories are standing still.
I wanna see the sequel to that dream.
Tell me where to go.
Oh I don't wanna live a lie anymore...
Pieces of my heart, looking for a place to belong.
'cause they wanna stick together.
Pieces of my heart, sleeping in someone's secrets
And now I'm still looking for you...
(You're a fraction of my heart, Where've you gone?)
Where've you gone? I'm looking for you every single day...
(I'm looking for you every single day...)
The song "Pieces of my Heart" by dustbox is a poignant ballad about heartbreak and the pain and confusion that comes with it. The lyrics speak of a broken heart, shattered by someone's hurtful words, and the struggle to pick up the pieces and move on. The singer's memories are like stardust on the day their heart was broken, and they feel adrift and alone. The repeated refrain of "Pieces of my heart, looking for a place to belong" reflects the singer's struggle to find a sense of wholeness and meaning after this devastating loss.
The song also reflects the passing of time and the difficulty of moving on from a significant relationship. The singer's memories are standing still, while time marches on around them. They long to see the sequel to their dream but don't know where to go to find it. The final lines of the song express a heartbroken plea to the person who caused the pain, asking "Where've you gone?" and admitting that they are still looking for that person every single day.
