Their eponymous debut album was released in South Africa in 1983 resulting in major chart success to match their success as a live band. They were certainly the most successful and influential of the white punk bands to take up African images and sounds in their rebellion against apartheid. At the time they were a three piece band featuring the Windrich brothers Lucien and Eric on guitars, keyboards and vocals with Wayne Harker on drums.
In order to avoid conscription into the apartheid military they left for London in 1985. Their second album, Dance the Instinct, was released there in 1986.
A third album, eponymously titled as their debut album, was released on cassette in 1993.
Round & Round

You never let me know
Round and round and round we go
You never let me know
This is the time
Time to unwind
You never let your feelings show
This is the way
To let it all out
And let your intuition flow
Well, I need someone I can lean upon
Not afraid of laying down the line
Yes, I need someone to rely and depend on
As obvious as solid ground
Well, I'm sure it's better than going
Round and round and round again
You never let me in
Round and round and round we go
You never let me know
(Oh, oh, oh)
(Oh, oh, oh)
(Iye, iye, yo)
(Oh, oh, oh)
(Oh, oh, oh)
(Iye, iye, yo)
Well, I need someone I can lean upon
Not afraid of laying down the line
Yes, I need someone to rely and depend on
As obvious as solid ground
Well I'm sure it's better than going
Round and round and round again
The lyrics of Round & Round by eVoid are about the frustration of being stuck in a relationship that goes nowhere. The singer feels trapped in a cycle of ups and downs and is yearning for a way out. In the first verse, the singer describes the repetitive nature of the relationship, with both parties going round and round without any real communication or emotional depth.
The chorus describes the need for openness and honesty in the relationship. The singer wants to be able to rely on their partner and feel like they can let their guard down. The lines "not afraid of laying down the line" and "as obvious as solid ground" suggest that the singer wants a relationship that is stable and grounded.
The second verse reiterates the singer's desire for a stable relationship and contrasts it with the frustration of going round and round in circles. The bridge reinforces the idea that the singer is ready to move on from the cycle of the relationship and find something more meaningful.
Overall, Round & Round is a song about the struggle to find a healthy, fulfilling relationship and the frustration of being stuck in a cycle of repetition and stagnation.
