Will You
gospelmusicasforever.blogspot.com - P.O.D. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

See you sittin' next to the window in the bedroom
She breaks down (breaks down)
Crying over something and starin' into nothin'
Afraid now (hate now)
Wanting, needing, haunting, it's killing me
Faking what has happened to live the life like that man
I'll break down, It's fake now
Will you, will you love me tomorrow?
So will you, will you stay with me today?

Fade in and out of reason to fight the way she's feelin'
She breaks down (breaks down)
Going through the motions and holding onto hopes
And her dreams now (somehow)
Shaken (shaken), mistaken (mistaken), forsaken (forsaken), it's killing me
Wishing you could change, but he's always been this way
If you leave now, I'll drown

Will you, will you love me tomorrow?
So will you, will you stay with me today?
Will you, will you be here tomorrow?
So will you, you remember yesterday?

Yesterday! Yesterday!
Yesterday! Yesterday!

This time, I'm sorry
This time, I'm sorry
This time, this time, I'm sorry for this time
This time, this time, I'm sorry
This time I'm sorry!

Will you, will you love me tomorrow?
So will you, will you stay with me today?
Will you, will you be here tomorrow?
So will you, you remember yesterday?

Will you? Will you? Will you? Will you? Will you? Will you?

So will you?
Will you? Will you? Will you? Will you? Will you? Will you?

Overall Meaning

The song "Will You" by P.O.D. is a moving ballad about a troubled relationship that is tearing the singer apart. The lyrics paint a picture of the woman crying and staring blankly out the window with the singer trying to understand what's going through her head. He sees her going through the motions, holding onto hopes and dreams, while she's torn between loving her partner and being terrified of his instability. The chorus poses a crucial question: will the other person still love and stay with the singer tomorrow or even today if they are struggling to make sense of their relationship?

The lines, "Wanting, needing, haunting, it's killing me/Faking what has happened to live the life like that man/I'll break down, It's fake now" express the singer's frustrations with trying to keep up the faรงade of a happy relationship while feeling emotionally and mentally drained. He can see the woman he loves is in pain and struggling, but he doesn't know how to help her move past it. The lines "If you leave now, I'll drown", bring an ominous tinge to the song, hinting at the idea that without the woman's love, the singer would become lost and overwhelmed.

Overall, the song has a deep sense of uncertainty, desperation, and worry running through it. The chorus's repetition of "Will you?" adds to the idea that the singer has a lot of questions without straightforward answers. The song ends on a poignant statement of remorse and regret, with lines like "This time, I'm sorry" and "Will you? So will you?" driving home the idea that the singer's love and relationship are hanging by a thread.

Wesley Magoogan's stunning sax solo and Hazel O'Connor's melancholy vocals have just reduced me to tears.
I remember this so clearly from the 80s. Here I am, in my sixties, snivelling like a baby.
Isn't music wonderful?

This is a fantastic track, such haunting vocals beautifully performed. Remember it like it was yesterday

I saw her sing it live a few years back. Reduced me to tears again!

@gavstott1

@@tinabaxter9211 Any idea how Hazel is? She was taken unwell last year

@AdrianSams

I agree wholeheartedly, as a 54yr man It brings me to tears, so emotional. Sad twist to this is that Wes no longer plays the sax due to a DIY accident where he lost some of his fingers. Utter travesty that he no longer plays.
