From an early age Roel kept himself busy with finding new sounds and creating music. As GOSTO he and his live band melt the worlds of acoustic and electronic music together into one dubby trip-hop sound; raw, dark but still colourful.
Inspired by traveling, chaos and love as well as artists such as Flying Lotus, James Blake, Thom Yorke and Jeff Buckley, GOSTO balances between fragile melodies and electronic extravaganza. In his song writing, he thrives to let you experience the thin line between simplicity and complexity. GOSTO takes you to places that you seem to recognize, but not yet have been before.
Roel’s band exists out of musicians how create a tight sound, despite of their totally different background. These four virtuosos have the ability play a ground shaking energetic but still very controlled live-show. Expect thrilling melodies, catchy vocals and deep, deep synths.
In June 2014, GOSTO released his debut EP (premiered on Noisey) and was amongst others support act for How to Dress Well.
GOSTO can be seen at several festivals and at different clubs.
GOSTO band:
Roel Vermeer: Vocals, synths & samples
Mats Voshol: Drums
Reindert Kragt: Bass & synthbass
Luc Schouten: Guitar

My Bad
gosto Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
don't you want to free yourself
don't you need to enjoy the time you breath
don't you wanna live
oh you
coming from the flipside
yeah you
Man saying: no more, my love, no more
can't you see the beauty of the light
don't you want to travel through the night
would you be caught up in a haze
amazed by solitude and amazed by grace
oh you
coming from the flip side
yeah you
open up your mind
The lyrics of the song "My bad 20140925" by Gosto are open to interpretation, but one possible analysis is that the song is urging listeners to embrace life and let go of fears or doubts. The first verse asks rhetorical questions about the desire for freedom, pleasure, and purpose, suggesting that these are universal needs. The chorus then addresses a person "coming from the flipside," potentially referring to someone who has been through a difficult experience or is struggling with negative thoughts. The singer encourages this person to "open up [their] mind" and see the beauty in the world.
The second verse uses poetic language to describe a journey through darkness and solitude, perhaps representing a metaphorical or literal exploration of the unknown. The final lines of the song are spoken by a man who says "no more, my love, no more," which can be interpreted in different ways depending on the context. It could be a personal statement of defiance or a plea to someone else to stop hurting him. Overall, the song encourages listeners to be open to new experiences and find joy in the present moment.

¿No quieres que sacrifica
no desea liberarse
¿Usted no necesita a disfrutar el tiempo que la respiración
¿No quieres vivir
Oh que
viene desde el otro lado
Sí que
abrir la mente
del hombre que dice:
no más,
mi amor,
no más
no puedes ver
la belleza de la luz
¿no quieres viajar a través de la noche
¿quieres que se vea
atrapado en una neblina
asombrado por la soledad
y es sorprendido por la gracia
Oh que
viene desde el otro lado
Sí se
abierta abre tu mente...
