His early musical influences include The Eagles, The Beatles, Queen, and Musiq Soulchild, which he enjoyed listening to alongside his father. He started playing covers and original songs at the age of 5.
In 2013, at the end of his teenage years, Perez launched his YouTube channel. His initial foray into online music was marked by a video following the "JAMnomination" trend. This trend involved nominating individuals to perform cover versions of songs. While this video, with around 9,800 views, served as his introduction, Perez continued to create content that resonated with a growing and dedicated fanbase.
His later videos would amass over a million views. Grentperez's breakthrough year arrived in 2020 when his "Sing You to Sleep" series gained viral popularity, providing solace and comfort to those facing the stresses of the pandemic. In the same year, Perez released original tracks like "Wait for You," "Dreams," and "In My Heart," which were featured on his 2021 EP, "Demo(s) About Love."
Grent Perez's swift ascent can be attributed, in part, to the rapid spread of word-of-mouth on the internet, a phenomenon he observed during the pandemic. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Perez is confident that he would have pursued music, even if the health crisis had not occurred. He acknowledged the impact of digital technology on his career, emphasizing the role of social media platforms and the internet in shaping his journey.
He released his debut single "Confusing Girl" on August 13, 2021 via Fast Friends. Two weeks later, he released an EP of demo songs titled "Demo(s) About Love". In September 2021, Grentperez released his sophomore single, "Cherry Wine," which subsequently achieved gold certification in Australia in 2023.
Continuing his productive output, Grentperez delivered the EPs "Conversations with the Moon" and "Trail Mix Tape EP" in 2022. He also released a Christmas single titled "When Christmas Comes Again."
June 2023 saw the release of his fourth EP, "When We Were Younger." This seven-track compilation revolves around the theme of nostalgia, showcasing Grentperez's ability to craft heartfelt and resonant music.
