Aurora
in-exile Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

Reshaping me!
Glimmering I notice that a light sheer breaks, from being unseen
Shivering and wondering how long it takes to consume me
That heavy rain
Has doubted me for far to long
You helped me breath again
You helped me breath
It sings my name
Oh so violently
I'm still drawn in
"Please strain through me" i said
I give you this
I feel the stars
Reshaping me
The auroras light is blinding
Straight through my eyes it sees
Oh wa-oh
This message reads
My fate is sealed
I haven't let this go
Is this real!?
Will it wake me up in shade
Alone
What is this feeling I've craved for too long
(Too long)
Another blank face is claimed
Weightlessness can burden those who drift out of reach
I hope to god
It's not me
Cold!
You froze me here in time
Far from erratic
Looks like I found my home
Cold!
Almost taste it
Complete this cycle
I'll carry on
This
Name!
Just a template
For the transcendent
Being
I feel the stars
Reshaping me
The auroras light is blinding
Straight through my eyes it sees
Oh wa-oh
This message reads
My fate is sealed
I haven't let this go
Is this real!?
Will it wake me up in shade
All alone
All alone!
How can it do this!?
I gave my life for you
Tossed aside
A fleeting tomb
Do i even exist anymore?
What the hell is this place I'm searching for?
My line was in your hands
But you cut it!
You clean cut it!
You said
A mist of tears
You said
How am I here
Am I even fucking breathing
Pitch black above
Pitch black below
Infinite emptiness

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Aurora" by in-exile convey a deeply personal and emotional struggle. The opening lines, "Reshaping me! Glimmering I notice that a light sheer breaks, from being unseen," suggest a transformation or change occurring within the singer. They feel a newfound light entering their life, but they are uncertain about the impact it will have on them. The heavy rain symbolizes doubt and negativity that has plagued the singer for a long time, but now they have found someone who has helped them "breathe again." This person is like a soothing presence, singing their name violently, drawing them in, as the singer pleads for them to stay and share their burdens.

The mention of the aurora's light being blinding and straight through the singer's eyes represents the overwhelming and intense nature of their experiences. It is as if this newfound light reveals the truth and reality of their existence. The message about the singer's fate being sealed and their refusal to let go suggests that they have accepted a certain destiny or path, but it leaves them questioning if it is real or if it will just awaken them in darkness and isolation. The feeling they have craved for too long, possibly a sense of purpose or connection, is still elusive.

The lyrics take a darker turn as the singer expresses feeling frozen in time, far from erratic, and finding a home in this state. They speak of completing a cycle, indicating a sense of resignation or acceptance of their situation. The mention of being a template for the transcendent being suggests that they feel they exist only to serve others or fulfill a predetermined role. The repetition of feeling the stars reshaping them emphasizes the ongoing transformation and the influence of external forces on their identity.

In the final section of the lyrics, the singer's despair and confusion intensify. They question how they ended up in this place and if they even exist anymore. The line about giving their life but being tossed aside like a fleeting tomb implies a sense of betrayal or abandonment. They are searching for a purpose or meaning, but their line, their connection to something greater, has been severed. The mention of a mist of tears and questioning their own existence evokes a deep sense of loneliness and disorientation. The pitch-black emptiness and the soul of the aurora signify a vast and infinite void that the singer is confronted with.

Lyrics

I was a moving thing
Before I was a human being
I was the ice before it melts
I was the tree before it fell
My dear, come near
Do you understand what is happening?

Crawl beneath the earth
To feel the hunger and the thirst
If you could fly and be the bird
Then you would see the forest burn
My dear, come near
Do you understand what is happening?

Who is calling me
For the emergency?
Who is listening
To the sirens singing?

We are stood and somehow calm
Within the madness of a storm
With no solution for the scared
Tasting pollution in the air
My dear, come near
Do you feel my hand? It is there

Exhale, inhale
Exhale, inhale
Exhale, inhale
Exhale, inhale
Exhale, inhale
Exhale, inhale
Exhale, inhale
Exhale, inhale

Who is calling me
For the emergency?
Who is listening
To the sirens singing?

Take from our world no more
Take from my world no more
Take from our world no more
Take from my world no more

I love how the rhythm between each "exhale" and "inhale" is fast, almost overlapping each other. So it's not just a "breath", it's almost desperation, reaching out for air, hiperventilating. Just try breathing following as Aurora sings, and you'll see. There's this feeling of urgency, and it really fits with the overall theme of the way us humans are changing nature, and how we should worry about the consequences of this.

The first time I heard the song I was following her words, wich left me a bit breathless and dizzy, that's a nice way to interact with the listener

Yea and when you want to calm down, you’re supposed to exhale longer than you inhale but here it’s the opposite and the inhale is longer than the exhale, thus having an opposite, more stressful / ‘survival’ effect.
