It’s a very beautiful solo, he was truly feeling it too, and in my book that’ll make it or break it.

I think most everyone here has mentioned some crazy solos, but I know of one that is amazing, and never gets its dues since the band never really broke on the radio or the mainstream.

Though they hailed from the same place that Blondie, Talking Heads, Tom Tom Club, and The Ramones came from (CBGB’s: NYC).

The band Television has an amazing tune called “Marquee Moon” which, to me, has one of the most epic odyssey’s of guitar solos ever!

For most exceptional guitarist the guitar is an extension of their body. they don't need to look to hit the notes and chords. when you see them with their head down it doesn't mean they're looking at the guitar they're just feeling the music. this was definitely an exceptional performance. it is hard to say that there is a G.O.A.T when it comes to guitar playing. there are just too many great guitarists out there.

Chris Buck is very good at playing with feeling. He's definitely an exceptional guitarist for the current generation. He's also aware of his musical roots, and honors his heroes.

David Gilmore will always probably be my top soloist, though many others of his generation created magic as well.

My band opened up for Chris Bucks Cardinal Black for 2 nights back in November just before they shot off on tour with Myles Kennedy. Hell of a show and he had all the time in the world to hang out with us before and after the gigs! Great guy and incredible talent.

He's really good & I truly enjoyed that. It reminds me though, I'm looking forward to you getting around to Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Riviera Paradise" live in Austin.
It's been known to make grown men cry & soothe troubled souls. One of those songs that a lot of people have had played at their funerals.

Stevie wrote it when he came out of rehab. At the end of a recording session he had the lights turned down low & sat in the corner, facing the wall, in near darkness & let it flow out of him.

Whenever he played it live he dedicated it to "anyone out there still suffering". Stevie's kind, caring, beautiful soul shows in that song. The Austin City Limits performance is good quality & so worth watching closely. Hope you do it soon.💙☮💙

Inventive, technical, embued with obviously sincere emotion, and lovely chords. Best ever? Can’t say, but it moved me deeply because it is obvious Mr Buck is sharing his soul here. And whenever a musician does that, it’s always special. I think you are spot on Jamal as usual. You can’t compare the beauty of a rose to that of an orchid. They are both beautiful. There is no need to determine which is “better “. Most of my favorite music is not about technicality, but rather capturing a “feeling”. Simple is often better when played just right.

To me, Chris Buck nd Quinn Sullivan re two "new breed"(?) musicians to watch. Chris puts so much expression into his playing, it's a pleasure to listen to. One of the reasons, but there are many to add to this, is his playing evokes a human voice with his style of focusing on using one string as much as possible to form the melody of the solo. Much like a person using a slide on the guitar. Yet he ads a lot of additional techniques to augment along the way.

Quinn is coming into his own right about now. He was a Buddy Guy prodigy, and has been playing since he was like 5 years old. Yet I hear quite a lot of Clapton style in his playing. What impresses me most though is that he has moved beyond emulation and is now putting out things that are clearly his voice musically.

Hi! As mentioned in another comment, Derek Trucks is another phenomenal guitarist. He teamed up with his wife and band mates to form Tedeschi Trucks band (excellent in concert). My favorite to feature both his guitar playing and his wife, Susan's, vocals is Midnight in Harlem. I have other favorites but we can start with that one. Check them out, y'all!

There are literally hundreds of solos that have never been heard by the masses that are the most beautiful guitar solos ever. That's why I hate whenever the term is brought up. Most people only hear music that would be considered mainstream. There exists a great number of talented players playing the most beautiful guitar solos ever that are not so easily accessible to the masses. And with that said, if the masses did have access, they could not even begin to comprehend the beauty as it would not be what they are used to hearing.

I'd give Steve Rotherey from Marillion a listen. His "in one shot solo" recording on the song Easter is legendary in Prog-Rock circles. Truth be told there are tons of talented guitarists from all genres that make it hard to crown just one as the best.

Boy, that’s a good call. Steve Rothery really flourished post-Fish Era. I loved early Marillion and had a tough time with H singing but the guitar solos and overall music got way better.

"Just enjoy the music man" YES!!!! THE BEST guitar player is completely in the eye/EAR of the beholder. It's like the coolest car, or the best bourbon, or the most beautiful mountain range or ANYTHING else. As human beings, we are all individuals and we all have different things that touch us or speak to us. This guy is an incredible guitar player and I loved hearing him play. There are too many amazing guitarist in so many genres of music that it's impossible to say one is better than the other. I've always told people take each player for who THEY are not who you want them to be. I play guitar and i love players with great technical ability as well as those who say alot with just a handfull of notes. It's an expression of each player that makes all their playing unique to them. It's absurd to compare Eddie Van Halen to , say , Pat Metheny. I love the playing of both but their styles are night & day. There is beauty to David Gilmour's sustained bent notes as there is to a scorching scale run of Al Di Meola. Like you said Jamel , just enjoy the music & lets keep all of it alive for future generations to enjoy.

There are great artists all over the world--some known and some unheard of. This man is one of them, but I favor Prince playing at "The Concert for George" as the most beautiful guitar solo I have ever heard. it's all beautiful. Jamel is beautiful as well. Watching Chris Buck's YouTube videos has made me a more dynamic player without me even trying to improve. I watched his video on how he uses his right hand and without consciously doing it I've started picking with different parts of my fingers to get different tones. He's not my favorite player ever but there is no one best. He's deserving of any respect he's given, that's for sure.

A very 'in-the-moment', highly subjective call to make, saddling a piece of music with such a weighty title. It's very well-done, impassioned, heartfelt, all that. No other context pulls the rug, or tablecloth out for me. What's left standing or on the ground isn't so easily determined. Oh, as far as the visual aspect, another interesting way to listen is to close your eyes entirely: often it will remove the split attention between your vision and hearing and you feel the music and will hear more. Different people/different perception of course, but the more you turn up and climb inside it, the more you become entrained to it in frequency.

Hope someday you check out something from JJ Cale. loved by other artist, has small following of fans that believe he's one of the best singer/songwriters of the 60s-70s generation. He crosses old school rock, blues, country and jazz. check out something like sensitive kind, guitar man, let me do it to you or you might like downtown LA, he has a deep rabbit whole of great songs. While it's good and very emotive, my pick for the most beautiful is Frank Zappa's Watermelon in Easter Hay. This version is played by his son Dweezil. Dweezil is moved to tears when he plays it. A perfect homage to one of the greatest Composers of the 20th Century. It is the 2nd to last song on Joe's Garage. Check it out.

Youtube allows me to wander back through the years to my early youth and enjoy the music and performances of so many well known artists.

A great guitar solo, to be sure, but calling it the best or most beautiful is a stretch. There are so many amazing guitarist, both known and unknown, who can 'bring it' that singling out just one performance is impossible.

First: what is the context of the song? A solo's beauty and effectiveness depends on the subject and feel of the song where it is played in.
Second: Yeah, it's okay, a tad slow and too much on the surface for my taste, personally I've heard more impressive ones. Not to say it's bad, it's just not for me.
