Crying In The Chapel

A woman in love is a delicate thing
And a woman who's sad for no reason at all
Will be crying in public, in the car, or the mall
Crying in public, crying in public
She's on the train, alone there, she sits
Sobbing her heart out, falling to bits
When a woman's distressed, you best look away
If she's crying in public, crying in public
Feminists claim that we're all the same
But I don't know a man who's felt the same shame
She might look a million or only ten cents
When mascara runs, there's no recompense
Aristocrat, popper, or the bourgeoisie
All know what it feels like when life's misery
Means crying in public, crying in public
Knowing that everyone sees it revealed
When the heartstrings are pulling you into a field
You run through the cornrows and find nowhere to hide
Then all of a sudden it bursts from inside
And you're crying in public, crying in public
Crying in public, crying in public
Crying in public, crying in public
The lyrics of "Crying in the Chapel" by Jimmy Jones & The Pretenders describe the unfortunate situation of a woman crying in public. The song speaks to the vulnerability and fragility of women - when in love, sad for no reason or feeling distressed, they tend to break down and cry publicly. The lyrics suggest that crying in public could be a source of shame for women, who might look a million dollars or ten cents, but when mascara runs down their face, there's no way to hide their pain.
The song touches on the issue of inequality between men and women. While feminists claim that men and women are the same, the lyrics suggest that men have never felt the same shame as women do when crying in public. The song portrays a realistic picture of the society where crying in public is considered taboo for women, while men can be vulnerable without being judged.
Overall, "Crying in the Chapel" is a poignant song that speaks to the emotional struggles of women and their need for empathy. It highlights the importance of being sensitive to the emotional needs of others and the fact that crying - no matter where - is a very natural and human thing to do.

I thought when Roulette bought Rama/Gee in ‘57 the did away with the Rama label (but keeping the Gee label). I see they still used Rama into 1960 at least.
