He'll Have to Go
luciano Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Uh come and hold me
Come a'hold me
Oh oh
Put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone
Let's pretend we're together, all alone
I'll tell the man to turn the jukebox way down low
And you can tell your friend there with you, you've to go
So come along with me
Oh
Whisper to me, tell me do you love me true
Or is he holding you the way I do
Though love is blind, make up your mind I've got to know
Should I hang up or will tell him you've to go
You can't say the words I wanna hear while you're with another man
Do you want me?
Answer yes or no, darling I'll understand
Put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone
Let's pretend we're together, all alone
I'll tell the men to turn the jukebox way down low
And you can tell your friend there with you, he'll have to go
And come along with me
Just come along with me
You can't say the words I wanna hear while you're with another man
Do you want me?
Answer yes or no, darling I'll understand
Put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone
Let's pretend we're together, all alone
I'll tell the men to turn the jukebox way down low
And you can tell your friend there with you, he'll have to go
And come on over, darling
Just come on over, oh girl
He'll have to go
He'll have to go
He'll have to go
He'll have to go
He'll have to go

Just come on over
He'll have to go

Overall Meaning

The song “He’ll Have to Go” by Luciano is about a man who is on the phone with a woman he loves but who is with another man. He wants to know if she loves him truly or if she is just playing games with him. He asks her to put her lips close to the phone so they can pretend they are together even though they are not physically together. He tells her to tell her friend who is with her, that she has to go so they can be together. The man is in love with the woman and wants to be with her, but he realizes that she is with someone else.

The lyrics are about a love triangle and the struggle between the three characters, the man, the woman, and the other man. The man wants to know if the woman loves him or not, and he wants her to tell him the truth. He asks her to make up her mind and tell him if she wants him or not. He knows that he cannot force her to love him, but he wants her to choose who she wants to be with.

The song is a classic country song that has been covered by many artists. It was originally written and recorded by Jim Reeves in 1959. Luciano covered the song in 1994 as part of his album “Covers.” The song has been covered by many other artists such as Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, and Neil Diamond.

Jamaicans love country music. A lot of great covers even from the 1960s and 1970s, but this compilation is great slice of reggae covers of country songs.
