The lyrics of misono's song "music letter" express a deep sense of disbelief and melancholy over a sudden and unexpected loss. The singer reflects on how the departure of a loved one happened without any warning, leading to a profound realization that brings uncontrollable tears. The reluctance to accept this reality is evident in the reluctance to face the final moments and the fear of the pain that comes with it. The lyrics capture the raw emotions of grief and the struggle to come to terms with the finality of the situation.
The song delves into the internal dialogue of the singer, expressing feelings of longing and concern for the departed individual. The lyrics convey a sense of wondering whether the person left behind is still able to smile and carry on with daily life, all while grappling with their own sorrow and inability to let go. The internal conflict of feeling both hurt by the absence and wishing happiness for the departed loved one is a poignant theme that runs through the lyrics, showcasing the complexity of emotions in the face of loss.
The singer wrestles with the overwhelming sense of sorrow and helplessness, especially when witnessing the tears of a parent (referred to as "you" in the lyrics) and realizing the impact of the loss. There is a deep empathy and attempt to understand the departed individual's feelings, even though the singer feels inadequate in truly comprehending the depth of their pain. The lyrics convey a sense of yearning to have cherished the relationship more and to have expressed love and appreciation while there was still time.
The closing lines of the song express a poignant acceptance of the inability to forget the departed individual and a bittersweet resolve to continue cherishing their memory. The conflicting emotions of wanting to see them again while coming to terms with the impossibility of it create a poignant tension in the lyrics. The acknowledgment of change and the internal struggle to move forward while holding onto the memories and love for the departed person form a powerful and emotionally resonant conclusion to the song.
