You Can Count On Me
noah lennox Lyrics

Know you can count on me
Know you can count on me
Know you can count on me
To get so up for it

Know you can count on me
Know you can count on me
Know you can count on me
To get so up for it

Know you can count on me
I'll be so up for it
Know at least I'll try

Who are you if I'm not up for it
Where are you if I'm not up for it

Want to put a bubble 'round you
Like a force field switch
Keep you secure just a little bit

But I know a secret child is just a silly trick
Who grows up to lose that force field switch

In between a hands on and a hands off apprenticeship
Where are you if I'm not up for it
I'll wake up for it

Know you can count on me
Know you can count on me
Know you can count on me
To get so up for it

Know you can count on me

I'll be so up for it
Know at least I'll try

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Noah Lennox's song "You Can Count On Me" are open to interpretation, but one possible meaning is that the singer is assuring someone that they can always rely on him to be there for them, to be enthusiastic and ready to support them no matter what. He repeats this message multiple times, emphasizing his steadfastness and willingness to help. However, the lines "Who are you if I'm not up for it / Where are you if I'm not up for it" suggest that the singer is concerned about the other person's dependency on him, and may feel pressured to always be "up for it" in order to fulfill their expectations.

The song also explores themes of protection and vulnerability, as the singer expresses a desire to shield the other person from harm by "put[ting] a bubble 'round you / Like a force field switch / Keep you secure just a little bit." However, he acknowledges that this approach is ultimately futile, and that the other person will inevitably face challenges and lose their "force field switch." In the end, he seems to accept the inevitable ebb and flow of life, promising to "wake up for it" and be there to support the other person through both good times and bad.

How did this dude literally just channel and permeate the sound of God throughout a small late night studio in New York like it was nothing?

I love the boldness to have a minute and a half intro on late night TV.

Me too. That voice could bring back the dead

Saw the performance before I was an AnCo fan. Wasn't ready to hear those sounds yet.

@kreme they definitely still intentionally chose the most challenging of the short tracks to play though too, cause winter wonderland and Derrick are both within the same 4 minute limit. I think I remember reading something from avey where he said they chose #1 both because it was short enough and it actually gave the audience a good perception of what the bands music sounds like

@Wabbi I think it was due to the time restraint of the performance window, they chose not to shrink any of the songs that would've been easier to digest and went with the song that fit the time slot. 🍒

Noah's voice has grown a lot. Definitely seems like he's a lot more confident in his sound than the first time I heard them live in 2007.
