The early core of Nuncyspungen started in the summer of '96 with the band named "purple dreads" and composed of Chuck Bollozos (bass & vocals), Lourd Magto (guitars & vocals) and Janro Abian (drums).
From the hardcore band Hemicrania, Ludwig Simbajon joined in as the other guitarist/vocalist in 1997 but later became a full-time guitarist when Philipp Coufal, from Ripcord, joined the band in the summer of 1999 as the new frontman. Since then they became formally known as Nuncyspungen.
They recorded their first self-titled EP and released it independently last January of 2001. it contained 5 songs which included goa and one grand of something.
The band was set to record two additional tracks after this but due to some unfavorable circumstances, Janro (now the drummer of cdo's peachfuzz) bade farewell to the band last September 11, 2001. Abraham Billano, who literally came from 4 different bands, stepped in his place.
The band released their first album (also self-titled) on May 2004 which is currently distributed by lighter records. They had a website on http://nuncyspungen.iwarp.com but it hasn't been updated since 2005.
According to their myspace page, the band is now "on permanent hiatus" since 2006 following the release of their EP Exit Music. Lourd, Chuck and Abe left the band prior to this and Jedi dela Cruz (eyestoobig, Red Whiskey), Jonah Booc (Karma, Ruska, Run Lucy Run, Pigsqueal) and John Geroy (swerve, 16deep) filled in until the said hiatus.
They have won a multitude of awards since their inception.
