Wonderwall
orig. - Oasis Lyrics

That they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do, about you now
Backbeat, the word was on the street
I'm sure you've heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now
And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I
Would like to say to you but I don't know how
Because maybe, you're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all, you're my wonderwall
Today was gonna be the day
But they'll never throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you're not to do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do, about you now
And all the roads that lead you there are winding
And all the lights that light the way are blinding
There are many things that I
Would like to say to you but I don't know how
I said maybe, you're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all, you're my wonderwall
I said maybe, you're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all, you're my wonderwall
I said maybe, you're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me
In the opening lines of Oasis's Wonderwall, the singer is speaking to a person they are deeply invested in. They believe that the person they are addressing is going to be handed an opportunity to make things right in their relationship. The singer is sure that the first-person subject will not mess it up and that they must do what they can to take it. The writer discusses the subject's heart, which might lack its usual flame, as though they may have given up on something once vital. Nonetheless, the singer remains committed and passionate, believing that no one else could ever have the kind of love they do for the subject.
As the song continues, it emphasizes how difficult the journey to this point has been. The "roads we have to walk" are winding and full of obstacles, and the "lights that lead us there are blinding." The singer claims to have had many thoughts to share with the subject, but they simply do not know how to articulate them. It is at this point that the chorus is reintroduced, which emphasizes that the subject of the song is the one that will rescue the singer. The singer is placing their faith and trust in the other person to be their "wonderwall."

@@patrickbateman7802 you grow up and lose your youth, friends die, you get hurt and struggle to be an adult in a myriad of scenarios life throws...then you remember some time you heard this, when you were a teen and all the things you've been through were still ahead of you...in other words, life hits you

Jeez this describes how this song feels to me so frickin well

Patrick Bateman nothing major, just the overwhelming feeling that I can never relive moments. Every time I hear this song it’s like a time machine to many years back to when I’d listen to this every day. Times with no pandemic, or stress, times from long ago that remind me just how precious life really is. You really never realize how fast it passes except in hindsight. Once it’s gone, there’s no getting it back so cherish every moment :)
