So APE was created to put a hurting on the shorts and screw with their margin by forcing them to short 2 stocks instead of 1 and doubling their obligation on their short position. The consequence of this is they created an arbitrage opportunity and now funds that just want the relatively low risk trade of shorting AMC and going long on APE are fighting the players that are short on both. Wall Street is now fighting itself and retail. I believe the end result of the reverse split actually doesn't matter, because it was either : going to happen and AMC would be debt free or it would get blocked by lawsuit and a bunch of dirty laundry would get exposed via discovery during the lawsuit. The only thing that does not make sense, his how is all this pressure not getting the hedgies to fold? What is allowing the Hedgies to stay solvent.
