And I Won't Open Mine...
Hey I Know Ain't Much
But i'm Not Lookin' For Love
Chorus:
And I Will Release You
From All Of Your Torment
And I'll Tell The World
I'll Tell Them A Story
I'll Tell A Story To The World
...About A Girl
Okay, Open Your Eyes...
And I Will Open Mine...
Hey I Know I Ain't Much
But I Know You're Lookin' For Love, You're Lookin' For Love..
Chorus
She Walked Away x 4
Chorus
about a girl x 4
The lyrics of "Girl" by The Color Green feature a dialogue between two individuals, one of whom is reluctant to open their eyes and "look for love." The singer, seemingly aware of the other's apprehension, promises to release them from their torment and to tell a story about a girl to the world.
The first verse sets the tone for the narrative. The lines "Don't You Open Your Eyes... / And I Won't Open Mine..." suggest a desire to avoid vulnerability and emotional exposure. The singer acknowledges that they may not be able to offer much in the way of love or affection, but they are willing to try and ease the other person's pain. The chorus reiterates this sentiment, promising to "release" the other from their troubles and to "stir up trouble" on their behalf. The lines "And I'll Tell The World / I'll Tell Them A Story / I'll Tell A Story To The World" suggest a desire for public recognition or validation. The final line, "about a girl," adds a sense of mystery and intrigue to the narrative.
In the second verse, the tone shifts slightly. The singer now invites the other person to open their eyes and join them in their search for love. The line "I Know You're Lookin' For Love, You're Lookin' For Love" reveals that the other person desires emotional connection, despite their earlier reluctance. The chorus repeats, with minor variations, and the song ends abruptly with the line "She Walked Away." This ending leaves the listener to wonder about the fate of the girl in question, and whether or not the singer was able to provide comfort or companionship.
Overall, "Girl" by The Color Green explores themes of vulnerability, emotional connection, and the desire for recognition. The song's narrative is left somewhat open-ended, allowing for multiple interpretations and meanings.
