Honey you are my shining star
Don't you go away
Oh baby
Wanna be right here where you are
Until my dying day, yeah baby
So many have tried
Girl don't you realize
How you hypnotize
Make me love you more each time, yeah baby
Honey I'll never leave you lonely
Give my love to you only
To you only, to you only
Honey you are my shining star
Don't you go away
No baby
Wanna be right here where you are
Until my dying day, yeah baby
Feels so good when we're lying here
Next to each other lost in love, yeah baby
Baby when we touch, love you so much
You're all I've ever dreamed of, yeah baby
Honey I'll never leave you lonely
Give my love to you only
To you only, to you only
Honey you are my shining star
Don't you go away girl
No baby
Wanna be right here where you are
Until my dying day
Honey you, you you are my shining star
Don't you go away, no baby
Honey you are my shining star
Don't you go away, no baby
Honey be, right here where you are
Until my dying day, ahh yeah
Honey you, you, you are my shining star
You are my shining star, no
Honey you are my star
Don't you go away, yeah baby
Honey you are my shining star
Don't you go away, ooh baby
The Manhattans' song "Shining Star" is a romantic and uplifting ballad that praises the singer's love interest. The opening lines set a hopeful and reassuring tone, as the singer addresses their partner as a "shining star" and pleads with them not to go away. The chorus repeats this sentiment, emphasizing the singer's desire to remain close to their beloved. The second verse introduces an element of comparison and competition, as the singer notes that others have tried to find a love like theirs, but have failed. The bridge brings in physical intimacy, describing how it feels to be close to one another and expressing the depth of the singer's feelings. The final verse returns to the focus on the couple's bond, promising to never leave their partner lonely and to give their love to them exclusively.
Overall, "Shining Star" is a simple and straightforward love song that emphasizes the singer's devotion and commitment to their significant other. The repeated use of the "shining star" metaphor adds a touch of grandeur and wonder to the lyrics, elevating the praise beyond the ordinary. The song's structure is simple but effective, relying on repetition and a catchy melody to convey its message of love.

@@andrewzboard I’m 62, it sounds like you are a bit older. Of course things have changed looking back 50-55 years. Just look at this group’s appearance. Well groomed and well dressed. Now they got tats on thier necks and pants falling off, lol
50 years ago people didn’t lock thier doors even in some big cities. Smaller towns never. An 8-10 year old kid could go out with a rake or snow shovel and make a few bucks, without worrying about stranger danger.
Nobody brought guns to school and did school shootings. They just duked it out with fists.
I still think men and women treated each other with more respect.
You bring up valid points too . Being homeless 50-55 years ago was against the law. Women were brought in out of the cold . Men were given a chance and help to find a job . And the police would call around to help the guy get work and a room to rent . If he kept losing his job and living drunk in the park or woods , he would be arrested for vagrancy. And maybe that would help him get a taste of how valuable freedom is.
They didn’t have the mass drug problem or divorce rate in the 50,s .
60,s , 70,s and 80,s brought it from 10-20 percent to 50 percent. I guess the free love thing hurt too many feelings.

It's a real shame music like this isn't made anymore, those of us whom were lucky enough to had grown up with it had the best music that was made.
