IV
the old man Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

His thoughts are kicking in
A drop of the old JD
As he listens to the songs that matter to him

Not long til he's home
Done all the coulds' and should ofs'
And all the villains that walk inside
These are the good times
Yeah these are the good times

Overall Meaning

In the first verse of "The Old Man's Song IV," the lyrics depict the old man's mindset as his thoughts start to come alive. The mention of "JD" refers to Jack Daniel's whiskey, hinting at the old man's way of finding solace and relaxation. As he enjoys his drink, he immerses himself in music that holds significance and meaning to him. This suggests that music plays an important role in his life, providing him with comfort and nostalgia.

Moving on to the second verse, the lyrics mention that the old man's arrival home is imminent. This could imply that he has completed all his responsibilities and obligations, such as fulfilling his "coulds" and "should ofs," indicating that he has lived a full and accomplished life. However, the line "all the villains that walk inside" signifies that he has encountered his fair share of challenges and adversity. Despite these obstacles, the old man still chooses to focus on the positive aspects of his life.

The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "These are the good times," emphasizing the old man's appreciation for the present moment. It suggests that even though he has faced hardships, he recognizes that these are the moments that truly matter and bring joy to his life. This repetition emphasizes the old man's contentment and serves as a reminder to cherish the positive experiences and memories.

Overall, "The Old Man's Song IV" portrays an old man reflecting on his life, finding solace in music, and appreciating the present moment. Through the lyrics, the audience gains insight into the old man's mindset, recognizing that he values the experiences and memories that have shaped him, rather than dwelling on the struggles he has faced.

Opening of episode 5 should show Dan hauling off Zoe's body. Supposedly, he is ruthless and has not issues killing anyone, right? Ruthless, not "male dominant" narrative.

@TheTyler865

Could not agree more. This reminds me of breaking bad where you just begin to absolutely HATE the main female character.

@reneemcmillan2724

Yeah Zoe was annoying af

@reneeshannon-ni1qh

Absolutely 100%! When she thought that she was sooooo smart and DEMANDED half... She should have been a corpse. Makes no sense

This show has really gone off the boil. Too many conversations conducted at a snail's pace and too many people putting themselves into situations they can easily avoid.

Having read the book many times I was looking forward to this show. Therefore, I was dumbfounded that they could call it The Old Man based on the book bu Thomas Perry! It went off the rails after the first episode.

The fact that the daughter was revealed to be alive so early was worrisome. Now, Zoe knows so that daughter could be in trouble. Now the FBI lead also knows. I can't watch. Too scared for the daughter. Expected her cover to be better hidden.

There are some great individual scenes in this series, but overall it's a ponderous, overly self indulgent mess. The violence is usually on point, but I think much of the dialogue is best described as "gratuitous." I was willing to fast forward through the chaff, because overall, there's a lot to praise about this series. But this episode ruined it for me. The "I will be accommodated!" scene is where I pulled the plug. Going to dinner was a mistake, to atone for it, he had to kill all three of them. Never have I ever fallen in and out of love so fast.

@lordbison

Zoe is not who she appears to be!
Maybe she killed the Real Zoe!
Their Hookup was to Soon & Too easy!
🤔😱

@mjcohnmd

I came here to say the same thing….
