Sweden
the rebellion Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Father, I've found a ship
To take me away
Pack my box and get me ready
No time to waste astray
Father, in a week I will be gone
To Miklagard on dragon's wings
There's riches to be won
To Uppsala
Odin and Thor
May they guard my way
Where I've never walked before

Sweden, oh Sweden
My fatherland my home
I pray to see your shores again
Tomorrow I'll be gone

Sweden, oh Sweden
Heathen stronghold in the black
Odin walks amidst your trees
May he guide me back

I saw an old man passing by
Under his cloak the flicker of an eye
As I turned
To ask his name
He was gone just as he came
I know I'm not alone
He will watch me far from home
And his wisdom be the light
And his courage in the fight

Odin, to Uppsala I shall come
To honour you with sacrifice
As it must be done
Oh Odin, I raise my hands to thee and pray

Give me strength and wisdom
There'll be danger in my way

Overall Meaning

The rebellion's song "Sweden" depicts a young man saying goodbye to his fatherland and embarking on a journey to Miklagard. He has found a ship to take him away and packs his box, ready to start a new adventure. He won't waste any time lingering as he has a mission to accomplish. The journey to Miklagard is perilous, but he hopes to find riches there. To embark on his new journey, he has to go through Uppsala, where Odin and Thor are worshipped. He hopes they will guard his way and guide him where he has never walked before.

The lyrics are symbolic in many ways. The young man's journey is not only a physical one but also a spiritual one. He leaves behind his fatherland, Sweden, which represents his home and everything he's ever known. The journey to Miklagard represents a new beginning, a chance for the young man to explore the unknown and acquire wealth. Odin and Thor represent a form of security, and he hopes their protection will guide him on his journey.

"Sweden" is a song about bravery, determination, and sacrifice. The young man is willing to leave everything behind to achieve his goal. He's also willing to face danger and make sacrifices along the way. The song invokes the spirit of Odin and Thor, two ancient gods worshipped by the Vikings, to signify the resilience and courage required on this journey.

Seems that the lunatics blocked ambulances too. The Swedish police is worthless. What happened to the good old water cannons?
