When you are in trouble and have no one to help you, you may end up struggling and losing everything you have.

Need a floor, need a couch, need a bus fare
When you are in trouble, you might need basic necessities like a place to stay or someone to borrow money from for your bus fare.

This is where the situation becomes real and you must deal with the consequences of your actions.

People's true characters are revealed in difficult times, and the best will rise to the top.
