Visions
w.dood Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Everything I’ve done up to this point has been passive.
It’s time I become active
Yeah
I got that 20/20 vision
I’m a man on a mission
I don’t see the competition
Woo
Said it’s time to make moves
You gon’ see this on the news
Leave my mark like a bruise
Woo
Now the fires been lit
It’s too hot I can’t quit
Gotta proves that I can spit
All the critics don’t offend me
I envision that there’s plenty
But the visions 20/20
It’s clear
I see a whole lot more
Is that opportunity? You better hold that door
Cause I ain’t knocking, I’m done waiting, got no time for being patient
I ain’t talking bout the green, it’s my dream that I’m chasing
And I will not stop
Put the world on my shoulders
And I will not drop
Till I get my shot
Till I fill that spot
At the top and I pop
And I just explode
Everybody in the world gonna know my load
All the things I done carried
All the stress I hold
All the times when I’m crying
I can’t let it show
All the rhymes I’m reciting
Tryna build my flow
Woah
I’ve been spending time on the playground
Woah
Everybody round me getting paid now
Woah
I don’t really care where they go
Why?
Cause people telling me I should lay low
That could only mean one thing
That they’re scared of the boy tryna chase his dream
Motivations high, floating through the sky
Hoping that I make it and so I sing
I got that 20/20 vision
I’m a man on a mission
I don’t see the competition
Woo
Said it’s time to make moves
You gon’ see this on the news
Leave my mark like a bruise
Woo
Now the fires been lit
It’s too hot I can’t quit
Gotta proves that I can spit
All the critics don’t offend me
I envision that there’s plenty
But the visions 20/20
New year new me, not really
It’s just time to go harder, the rest of that’s silly
Grinding all day, and I’m up all night
Tryna get paid doing stuff I like
Now I got something to say
It’s been a long time coming but I’m ready to play
Ever since I started music I ain’t put it away
It’s just been delayed, but today’s the day
Champion heart inside me
I forgive but I don’t take it lightly
Workin hard and I’m up all night see
Ain’t nobody that could ever do it like me
Go ahead and try me
I will never fold
Heart is getting icy
Been out in the cold
Devil tryna buy me
But I never sold
Brought it up in writing
But I told him no
Cause I know what I’d me missin
Go and get it cause there ain’t no wishin
Thinking big is part of my condition
Cause what you call crazy I call vision
I got that 20/20 vision
I’m a man on a mission
I don’t see the competition
Woo
Said it’s time to make moves
You gon’ see this on the news
Leave my mark like a bruise
Woo
Now the fires been lit
It’s too hot I can’t quit
Gotta proves that I can spit
All the critics don’t offend me
I envision that there’s plenty
But the visions 20/20
(It’s clear)
Said the visions the 2020
Yeah the visions 2020

The moral of the story is that each brother's flaw was fatal:

1) First Brother: Arrogant and Violent. He bragged of his power, which led to his death, since the wizard who killed him wanted to ensure the wand for himself. He had to learn to be humble and peaceful.

2) Second Brother: Obsessed with Love/Drunk with Love. He was so madly and blindly in love with his lover that he couldn't let her go, which caused his demise. He had to learn that obsession isn't love. He had to learn how to let go of her and be grateful that she was his lover and for the time they spent together.

3) Third Brother: Winner. He learned to be gracious in victory by humbly asking death for invisibility (humility) rather than an all-powerful wand. He learned how to let go as saying goodbye to his son (a loved one) was very sad for him and difficult, but he had to let go of that relationship and his love for his son to continue in his end.

Point is in life. Be humble, learn to live life each day with humility and temperance, cherish every moment you have with your loved ones and be grateful for their presence, but not obsess over their presence when they have left you and at the end of the day remember that death is not bad or evil. It is a natural part of life, so spend every day grateful for what you have and for the people in your life.

I love how you can notice their personalities on how they gestured Death after recieving their gifts.

First brother: ignored death as soon as he got the wand
Second brother: looked back at Death mockingly as a sign of arrogance
Third brother: bowed down as respect for Death

And the way each of them died is also different.

First brother: Murder
Second brother: Suicide
Third brother: Natural (I thought Old age but he and his son looked too young)

Kind of a nice little detail in the beginning. When the brothers are making the bridge, their wand gestures hint at their characters.
The 1st Brother, “A Combative Man”, who would become drunk and boisterous with power, holds his wand like a sword or lance, and his stance is one of expecting opposition. In a word, aggressive.

The 2nd Brother, “An Arrogant Man”, who would seek to humiliate Death further, ends the spell with an elegant flourish and holds the wand aloft, like a conductor expecting applause and adoration. In a word, vain.

The 3rd Brother, “A Humble Man”, the one who would invisible evade Death for years, holds his wand up, makes the gesture, then puts his arm down, expecting nothing. He goes unnoticed, because he’s focused on the task at hand, not his own ego. In a word, wise.

No words are spoken by them, and already you have characterization and foreshadowing.

In a word, epic.

That last line always gets to me, “he then greeted death as an old friend and went with him gladly, to part in this life as equals”

@SugarGliderTribe

That line is so poetic and yet true. As I get older, and see my elders diving, old classmates dying in accidents, of cancer, some even being murdered, I think every day and wander when Death will come visit ME.

@@SugarGliderTribe Do you eat?

@rozziebrown

I think it’s “departing this life as equals”

@ibrahimkayikci2146

Sounds like Dumbledor. After a very long life, he greeted death as an old friend in fact, as an equal.

@bobbyweirddick6556

İBRAHİM ETHEM KAYIKCI because he was ready to go. Living a long life isn’t always the best thing that could happen to you. I hope I don’t live to 100.
