Good bye
whee in Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

이제 우리 no oh

Overall Meaning

The song "Good bye" by Whee In is a poignant reflection on the aftermath of a break-up. The lyrics speak about how the singer had once tried to forget about the past and move on by starting anew, believing that if it wasn't with the person they had just parted ways with then it couldn't be with anyone else. Despite the singer's best efforts, they still find that they haven't been able to forget that person completely, and that the memories of when they first met and fell in love are still vivid and haunting. The singer is left confused and hurt by their former partner's ability to move on so quickly, and feels like they were foolish to believe the things they were told. The song ends with the singer lamenting their lost love and acknowledging that it's time to finally say goodbye.

Through the repetition of certain phrases and the use of powerful imagery, Whee In captures a sense of despair and heartbreak that anyone who has gone through a break-up can relate to. The tone of the song feels melancholic and sad, with each note and word carrying a weight of its own. The use of the harmonies and echoes creates an ethereal and haunting sound that pulls on the strings of the listener's heart.

Overall, "Good bye" is a beautiful showcase of Whee In's vocal range and her ability to convey complex emotions through her delivery of a simple yet powerful lyric.

Haha I think it was more like

Jungkey: “How high can you hit the note?”

Wheein: “Oh I’d rather it be a little lower if we could”

Jungkey: “Several octaves higher, got it”

Wheein: [nails it anyway]

Everyone: [shocked Pikachu meme]

Since most of you are confused, this is my take on how the video is interpreted:

The main girl in the mv is in love with her art teacher (This was said by Wheein herself), but which of the two is the art teacher? Here goes:

Throughout the mv, you see the girl longing for someone that is obviously already taken by someone else, we see this because she seems heartbroken and always seems to be staring at an empty space. Honestly, this video can be seen as a young girl who is foolishly in love with someone, too the extent that she breaks into her wanted person's home, and fantasize moments with them. Although, this kept backfiring on her because every-time she tried to make herself happy by thinking of moments with the teacher, she kept being reminded that they are already dating someone else. Looking at the beginning of the video, she puts down a frame that seems to be a picture of a man, but the other side of the picture was blocked off. This gave the depiction that the main girl's love interest is a male teacher. Or is it?
In the music video we also see the girl taking all of the male's belongings and throwing it away (i.e. toothbrush, clothes, razor), while she keeps the females belongings and uses them with a satisfied smile on her face (i.e. clothes, lipstick, perfume, etc.). Some might say that she did this because she was so in love with the man that she wanted to pretend to be the girlfriend. I personally disagree with this theory because why would she throw away the man's belongings if she was in love with him? In one part of the mv, you can see her frown when she is smelling the male's cologne (3:10) , but smile with happiness when she was smelling the females perfume (5:05) . Its all up to anyone's own personal interpretation tbh, but the biggest hint for me was when she was dancing with a FEMALE mannequin (3:05) . You can tell she was at her happiest in the moment.
The last and final deciding factor for me was the frame at the end. Why would she cover the man's face? Is it because she hated that the man left her for another woman? I don think so. She covered the man because she was in love with the female teacher. The fact that she threw away the man's belongings meant she wanted the woman she loved for herself. She wished the man to go away so she could finally be with the person so loved so dearly.

Another honourable mention to this is, in one of Wheein's Teaser video's, she clearly mentions that love is diverse, and that no matter how different they are, it is all the same. That Love is Love.

Again, many people can interpret this the way they want to, but I don't think it hurts to believe that LGBTQ community is being represented positively by a famous influencer. It's not easy for anyone to do that, and the fact that Wheein was able to create something that hints at it at the very least is so brave and kind of her.

(Edit): THE ACTRESS JUST CONFIRMED IN A COMMENT ON INSTA THAT IT IS INDEED GAY. SHE WAS INLOVE WITH A FEMALE TEACHER 😭😭. Its a win for the gays today!!

this mv was really a bold move by wheein and rbw, they could've gotten lots of backlash but still went with it. their support towards lgbtq+ community is really amazing

@allenclw3361

Can you give me examples where LGBTQ+ videos have gotten backlash ib Korea in the past 20 years?

@unknownfangirl1712

@Allen Clw well for example lgbtq+ is really hated in korea

@spbfce

@Allen Clw I mean Korea are pretty conservative when it comes to LGBTQ+. But not all Koreans dislike the idea, they are just embarrassed to admit it since it will bring controversy.
