Larry Stewart left Restless Heart in late 1991 after the group released the compilation "The Best of Restless Heart." The group then became a quartet and released "Big Iron Horses" in 1992 shortly after which Dave Innis left the group. The group released "Matters of the Heart" in 1994 before splitting up. In 1998, a reunited Restless Heart (minus Innis) recorded three new songs for a Greatest Hits album and then toured with Vince Gill for about a year.
In 2003, all five members reunited and recorded the album "Still Restless" for Koch Nashville in 2004. The record label closed in early 2005 leaving the group without a label. They are still touring and released a live album through their website in August 2007.
Tell Me What You Dream
Restless Heart Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You give what you have; still, that's not enough
What went wrong?
'Cause now what we share are too many fears
Too many secrets, too many years
Tonight
[Chorus]
Tell me what you see at night in your dreams
Is it someone else's arms that hold you tight
Or, darlin', is it me?
Tell me what you dream at night while you sleep
Deep in the night you whisper so low.
I lay by your side, I felt so alone,
Alone.
I reached for your arms, you called out a name.
It wasn't my own. It caused me so much pain,
Inside.
[Chorus]
Tell me what you dream at night while you're sleepin'
Tell me what you see at night in your dreams
Is it someone else's arms that hold you tight
Or, darlin', is it me?
Tell me what you dream at night
Dream at night
Oh, baby, dream at night while you're sleepin'
The song "Tell Me What You Dream" by Restless Heart is a heartfelt ballad that explores the complexities of a troubled relationship. In the first verse, the singer laments that despite giving his all to the relationship, it's not enough to overcome the many fears and secrets that have accumulated over the years. The chorus asks the partner what they dream about at night while they sleep, wondering if they dream of being held by someone else or if they dream of the singer. The second verse reveals the singer's insecurities as he overhears his partner whispering another name in her sleep, causing him pain and feelings of loneliness.
The lyrics paint a vivid picture of a relationship that is struggling under the weight of unresolved issues and the fear of infidelity. The theme of dreams is a powerful one, as it exposes the subconscious desires and fears that often go unspoken in waking life. The singer is reaching out to his partner, asking her to reveal her innermost thoughts and dreams, hoping to find some solace and comfort in knowing whether she is truly committed to their relationship.
Overall, "Tell Me What You Dream" is a poignant song that captures the heartache and uncertainty of a relationship in crisis. The lyrics are full of raw emotion and vulnerability, making it a powerful statement on the fragility of love.

His voice is a perfect blend of Don Henley and Eddie Money. No band can ever perform this song better. Absolutely the most underrated song and group.

Unfortunately they don't make them like this anymore . It's a damn shame!! I remember this in the early 90s. Very underrated.
