Before he had a big successful music career Jose Manuel Figueroa (Joan Sebastian's legal name) passed most of his childhood from place to place. At age eight he was sent away by his parents to Guanajuato for school. When he was eleven he return to Juliantla, his native town, this return inspired him to begin formally composing. But he was sent off again to a monastery in Morelos where he was under the care of father David Salgado. Due to the influence Father Salgado had on Sebastian he took the decision of becoming a priest. So at age 14 he enrolled in the Seminario Conciliar de San Jose(located in Cuernavaca, Morelos). But he soon realized that music was his true calling so when he was 17 years old he abandoned the seminary to dedicate himself completely to the music business.
Meanwhile he made a living as an administrative assistant in a vacationing resort in Oaxtepec, Morelos, where he would sing through the intercom. It was in that resort that Sebastian found the incentive he needed to pursue his singing dream more aggressively. The year was 1968 when Joan Sebastian encountered Angélica María (a famous Mexican actress) who was looking for a place to stay. While she waited she asked him if he sang and the following day he sang for her six songs. Angélica María suggested to Sebastian that he record the songs and gave him the telephone number of Eduardo Magallanes, a music producer. Without hesitating Sebastian moved to Mexico City and began knocking on doors until Chucho Rincon from Discos Capitals agreed to listen to him and thus began Sebastian's artistic career. He recorded his first disc and the positive results came fast when in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, the song "Descartada" sold 12 thousand copies. previous. Y voy para donde el sol
Libre de pensamiento
De nacimiento soy soñador
Libre de pensamiento
De nacimiento soy soñador
Pájaro enamorado
Si sabes de pasión
Préstame una tonada
Para ponérsela a mi canción
Es para mí adorada
Para llevársela a su balcón
Sembrador de amor
Sembrador de amor
Libre de pensamiento
De nacimiento soy soñador
Libre de pensamiento
De nacimiento soy soñador
Sueño con las montañas
Y sueño con tu calor
Sueño que en las mañanas
Por mi ventana nos baña el sol
Sueño que en las mañanas
Por mi ventana nos baña el sol
Cúbreme con tus brazos
Tapa mi desnudez
Préndeme con tus besos
Y nada quiero saber después
Préndeme con tus besos
Y nada quiero saber después
Sembrador de amor, sembrador de amor
Libre de pensamiento
De nacimiento soy soñador
Libre de pensamiento
De nacimiento soy soñador
The lyrics of Joan Sebastían's Sembrador de Amor describe the singer's free-spirited nature and his dreams of love and freedom. He begins by saying that he comes from the wind and is going towards the sun, indicating his nomadic nature and his desire to be wherever his heart takes him. He believes in free thinking and considers himself a born dreamer.
In the second verse, he compares himself to a lovestruck bird and asks for its melody to add to his own song, which he plans to sing for his beloved. He dreams of serenading his lover on her balcony and sowing the seeds of love in her heart. The chorus repeats the phrase "Sembrador de amor" (sower of love), emphasizing the singer's role as a symbol of love and freedom.
The third verse reveals that he dreams of being surrounded by mountains and his lover's warmth. He further dreams of a future where they wake up to the morning sun shining through their windows. The singer then expresses his desire to be intimate with his lover and wants nothing more than to be consumed by her love.
Through these lyrics, Joan Sebastían conveys his message of love, freedom, and a desire for intimacy with his beloved. He encourages his listeners to follow their hearts and pursue their dreams, much like he does himself.
