In 2000, Sia signed to Sony Music's sub-label Dance Pool and released her second studio album, Healing Is Difficult, the following year. Displeased with the promotion of the record, she signed to Go! Beat and released her third studio album, Colour the Small One, in 2004. The project struggled to connect with a mainstream audience, and so Sia relocated to New York City in 2005 and began touring across the United States. She released her fourth and fifth studio releases, Some People Have Real Problems and We Are Born, in 2008 and 2010, respectively. She then took a hiatus from performing, during which she focused on songwriting for other artists. Her catalogue includes the successful collaborations "Titanium" (with David Guetta), "Diamonds" (with Rihanna) and "Wild Ones" (with Flo Rida).
In 2014, Sia released her sixth studio album 1000 Forms of Fear, which debuted at No 1 in the U.S. Billboard 200 and generated the top-ten breakthrough single "Chandelier" and a trilogy of music videos starring child dancer Maddie Ziegler. In 2016, she released her seventh studio album This Is Acting, which spawned her first Hot 100 number one single, "Cheap Thrills". The same year, Sia gave her Nostalgic for the Present Tour, which incorporated performance art elements. Sia has received an array of accolades, including ARIA Awards and an MTV Video Music Award.

One old man is enough
Babe, you got it wrong
Just turn your fears into trust, to trust
Where'd the love go?
When all is said and done
Hey now, put your hands in the air
I'ma go through your stuff
Where'd the love go?
Put the running into run
You asking me to stay
But I never met a girl I could trust
You're sayin' those words like you hate me now (wo-oah)
Our house is burning when you're raisin' hell (wo-oah)
Here in the ashes your soul cries out (a-a-ah)
But don't be afraid of these thunderclouds
These thunderclouds, oh, no
These thunderclouds, oh, no, no
All I need is love (da-dum, dum, dum)
All I need is a word (da-dum, dum, dum)
All I need is us (da-dum, dum, dum)
You turned nouns into verbs, to verbs
Where did love go?
When all is said and done
Hey now, put your hands in the air
I'ma go through your stuff
Where did love go?
You put the running into run
You're asking me to stay
But I never met a man I could trust
You're sayin' those words like you hate me now (wo-oah)
Our house is burning when you're raisin' hell (wo-oah)
Here in the ashes your soul cries out (a-a-ah)
But don't be afraid of these thunderclouds
These thunderclouds, oh, no
These thunderclouds, oh, no, no
These thunderclouds, oh, no
These thunderclouds, oh, no, no
These thunderclouds, oh oh
These thunderclouds, oh oh oh
These thunderclouds
Oh
The lyrics of Thunderclouds by Diplo, LSD, Labrinth and Sia emphasize on the idea of love and trust. The opening verse "All I need is one, one old man is enough" speaks about how just one person can change everything and bring love into your life. The second line "Babe, you got it wrong, just turn your fears into trust, to trust" is an indication that love is not always easy and sometimes we need to let go of our fears and trust others to truly experience it.
The chorus of the song "Where'd the love go? When all is said and done. Hey now, put your hands in the air. I'ma go through your stuff. Where'd the love go? Put the running into run. You asking me to stay but I never met a girl I could trust" reflects on the idea that love is not always enduring and can evaporate. The lines "You putting the running into run. You asking me to stay but I never met a girl I could trust" suggests that even though someone may want to hold on to love, it can be difficult if there is no trust.
The verse "You're saying those words like you hate me now. Our house is burning when you're raising hell. Here in the ashes your soul cries out. But don't be afraid of these thunderclouds" is about how arguments and disagreements can make us feel like love is fading away. The lyric "But don't be afraid of these thunderclouds" is a sign of hope that the love can still survive despite these obstacles.
Overall, the song is about the ups and downs in love and the need for trust to make it work. It encourages the listener not to be afraid of the thunderclouds that come with love and to continue to pursue it.
