Prelude 3.0
Slipknot Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I never told you
I don't know why
I never tried
When we shed these bitter skins again
All the reasons come to life
But now it's over
Now it's over
Now it's over
Now it's over
I don't know why
You never asked me
And I don't know why
You never cared
When we hide these little sins again
All the reasons
Have to die
But now it's over
Now it's over
And now it's over
And now it's over
And now it's over
And now it's over
And now it's over
And now it's over
No, no, no, no, no
The lyrics of Prelude 3.0 by Slipknot seem to speak about unspoken, unfulfilled love or a relationship where the two parties never expressed their true feelings for each other. The word "why" is repeated several times, indicating a sense of confusion and regret, almost as if the singer is wondering what could have been if they had spoken up. The lines "When we shed these bitter skins again" and "When we find these little sins again" suggest the possibility of the two parties meeting again in the future and facing their demons. However, the singer seems to be resigned to the fact that it's too late, as he repeats the phrase "now it's over" several times, almost as if to convince himself that he needs to move on.
The song perhaps highlights the notion of missed opportunities, lost love, and an unfulfilled relationship. It speaks to the pain of holding onto love without the courage to openly express it. The repetitive phrases highlight the finality of this situation, which is solidified by the last "no," indicating that there is no turning back.
