Red and Blue is the Stefani Germanotta Band's first official EP. It was sold at The Bitter End on March 9, 2006. The lyrics were written by Lady Gaga, and was produced by Joe Vulpis. On December 17, 2005, they played several of the songs from the EP at The Lion's Den. It features female-vocal ballads with a glam rock edge. Most songs have a very present piano and heavily feature, the voice of Lady Gaga. This piano-heavy musical style was notably absent from Lady Gaga's debut album, The Fame, except for the track "Brown Eyes", but the motif resurfaced later in acoustic performances of "Poker Face" and "Paparazzi".
2006 RELEASE
The CD did not have an official widespread distribution. A handful of copies were sold at The Bitter End. The CD is a followup/update to the Stefani Germanotta Band's previous EP, Words. The main difference is the track listing is in a different order. The album largely faded into obscurity until 2009, when the album was posted on Lady Gaga's official forums.
The song, "Something Crazy", was played live by the SGBand under the title, "When You're Not Around".
Several songs from the EP were performed live by band through the years of 2006 and early 2007.
2009 UNOFFICIAL RE-RELEASE
The post on the Lady Gaga forums came with an extra note after the official information.
When the CD was ripped onto iTunes, GraceNote automatically downloaded the correct track listing information, except for one error. It said the year was 2005, when the printing on the CD says 2006.
None of the songs from this EP have been released as singles, or have been promoted, although "Wish You Were Here" entered some unofficial international charts, from countries, such as, Romania, Poland and Hungary, in early 2009.
