Talking Body

The feeling of your skin locked in my head
Smoke smoke me broke
I don't care, I'm down for what you want
Day drunk into the night, wanna keep you here
'Cause you dry my tears
Yeah, summer loving and fights
How it is for us, and it's all because
Now if we're talking body
You got a perfect one, so put it on me
Swear it won't take you long
If you love me right
We love for life, on and on and on
Now if we're talking body
You got a perfect one, so put it on me
Swear it won't take you long
If you love me right
We love for life, on and on and on
Love can be love
Anything you want, I'll give it up
Lips, lips I kiss
Bite me while I taste your fingertips
Day drunk into the night, wanna keep you here
'Cause you dry my tears
Yeah, summer loving and fights
How it is for us, and it's all because
Now if we're talking body
You got a perfect one, so put it on me
Swear it won't take you long
If you love me right
We love for life, on and on and on
Bodies
Oh baby make 'em bodies, we just use for fun
Bodies
Let's use 'em up 'til every little piece is gone
(Let's go!) On and on and on
(Let's go!) On and on
(Let's go!)
Oh, now if we're talking body
You got a perfect one, so put it on me
Swear it won't take you long
If you love me right
We love for life, on and on and on
Ooh now if we're talking body
You got a perfect one, so put it on me
Swear it won't take you long
If you love me right
We love for life, on and on and on
The lyrics to Tove Lo's "Talking Body" depict a physical and sexually charged relationship between two lovers. The song starts with the singer wanting to stay in bed and recapture the feeling of her lover's touch. She is willing to engage in these desires, even if it means losing herself to the experience by "smoking," or getting lost in their physical interaction. The singer is so consumed by her lover that she is day-drunk into the night, wanting to keep them there. Her lover is the one who dries her tears, despite the complications that may arise from their love.
The chorus "now if we're talking body" repeats throughout the song insinuating a conversation revolving around the physical aspect of their relationship. The singer acknowledges her lover's "perfect" body and invites them to "put it on me." The tempo speeds up during the bridge, emphasizing a wild and fun time before ending with the repeated chorus.
Overall, the lyrics portray a passionate but simplistic relationship that is grounded in physical attraction. It's wild and intense, but it is also short-lived and potentially damaging. While the song is clearly about sex and the physical, the lyrics could also relate to how people use others to fill a void, only to hurt themselves in the end.
