By 2007 with Kiyomori in full swing, Adam’s prodigious song-writing had produced an extra-curricular bag of musical wonders so vast that it would need a secondary route to the world to be heard! Adam began playing solo acoustic sets with this mellower batch of tracks as they did not fit with the abrasive-tech rock of Kiyomori's arsenal.
Soon the nucleus of Adam’s opus started to attract the powerhouse talents of some fantastic musicians who Adam had met and worked with over the years. Over the next year or two Adam played many low-key sets accompanied by various combinations of collaborators before finally arriving at the perfect set of players: Aaron 'Shoes' Neville- master of the keys and golden-tonsilled backing vocalist; Tom 'Tommy-Gun' Alty- supreme axeman extraordinaire, who had previously worked with Adam as rift lead guitarist and decided to come out of self-imposed musical retirement when confronted with the strength of the new songs; Ian Dell- dub-fingered genius bassist/percussionist and a well respected singer-songwriter and performer in his own right; and last, but by no means least, Ben 'Heavyman' Kidd- Adam's brother and his most long-term musical collaborator, the drum-toting love child of Einstein and King Kong! This finalised line-up played their first ever show as late as New Years Eve 2009 and quickly became known as Adam Kidd Band, eschewing the traditional 'The' for sheer awkwardness alone!
During the long gestation from side-project to main stage Adam Kidd Band became well known locally for their rabble-rousing live shows, a set of confident and catchy songs and an eclectic and punchy style encompassing Latin, Reggae and Indie Rock. Akin to no one, but cut from the same union-jack plaid cloth as innovators such as Radiohead, Blur, The Clash and the Beatles, the band’s musical ethic touts floor-stomping riffs, big end drums, intricate melodies, powerful themes and Kidd's twilight lead vocal- half-Bowie, half-Strummer.
With 2010 upon us, Adam Kidd Band has been hitting the live circuit hard, sharp-suited and toting an arsenal of finely-honed material, backed by an energetic live show that pulls no punches. Further to playing out and extending their zone of influence, the band has found the time to escape to a secluded spot in rural Sussex (Oscillate Recording) to cut the 12 tracks of their debut album, due out later this year. The Band would like to thank its fans for being the best in the world, and for making the live shows the phenomenal events they are.
