At a time when the week’s number 1 single can be as generic, cliché and computerized as a politician’s persona, Bottles of Wine have delivered a no-frills, quintessential Rock N’ Roll album, accurately entitled “Blessed With Fire”.
While known for powerful live performances, “Blessed With Fire”, Bottles of Wine’s debut record, captures the band’s true essence and sound, thus carving out their place in an increasingly overlooked genre. With such anthems as “Cheatin’ the Hangman”, “Wish” and “Dirty Diamonds”, BOW instantly demonstrate why the spirit of Rock N’ Roll is as alive as ever. “The Weight of Words” and the beautiful acoustic instrumental “Asleep by the Fire” further displays this group’s depth and artistry, adding a nice touch to an undeniably rockin’ album.
Led by Michael Connelly (Lead Vocals, Guitars, Piano/ Keyboards, Harmonica, Mandolin, Sitar), Bottles of Wine has, in just 2 -1/2 years, managed to garner more respect among peers and capture a wider audience than most bands can in a whole career. Recently coined “The New Gods OF Thunder”, gw [purposely lower case] (bass, bass pedals, mandolin, background vocals) and another Chicago native, Luke Smith (drums/ congas/percussion, background vocals), provide the backbone to BOWs powerful sound. Having already opened for quite a vast array of respected headliners, including: Wolfmother, Puddle of Mudd, Black Label Society, Avenged Sevenfold, Kings of Leon, Clutch, HIM, LA Guns, Paul Rodgers, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, My Morning Jacket, Derek Trucks Band,The Black Keys, Molly Hatchet, Collective Soul, Little Big Town, Buddy Guy, Vince Neil, Sonny Landreth, etc., Bottles of Wine is sure to be a main marquee attraction in their own right. Until then, we have all been “Blessed With Fire”.
