After supporting roles in films such as Pride & Prejudice and Public Enemies, as well as several television roles (including a high-profile turn in a 2007 episode of Doctor Who), she gained widespread recognition for her Oscar-nominated performance in An Education. Her post-An Education films include Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, directed by Oliver Stone and starring Michael Douglas, and Never Let Me Go, based on the prestigious novel by Kazuo Ishiguro. In 2010, she provided vocals for the song "write about love" by Belle and Sebastian.
