Fronted by brothers Ed & Jamie Croft, the band blended melodic piano and guitar sounds in a fresh way. At the same time their subversive lyrics and interviews with a range of radical thinkers prompted Elektra records founder Jak Holzman to comment "What you guys are doing, in some senses, it reminds me of the Doors. Apart from in Jim's case he'd have been more content to sit back and let things fall apart around him."
The Digging In EP was released in 2004, but the Retrospective on Last FM gives a better flavour of the direction the band was moving in. High points for the band included playing sold-out Bush Hall and Barfy (London) gigs, being approached by Relentless Records (EMI) and offered a release on Warner's Cordless imprint as well as a bunch of festival performances including Cornbury, Big Green Gathering and Solfest. Post-Creel Commission the brothers went on to front separate bands, The Dog Days and Myriad Creatures. More recently, Jamie can be found as front man of Jim Kroft.
