1) Emma Reid (born in 1982 in southern England) is an Anglo-Swedish violinist. As well as solo work, she has recorded as Tuulikki Bartosik & Emma Reid, and as Robert Harbron & Emma Reid and Rob Harbron & Emma Reid.
As a young child of 3 years old or so, her mother started teaching her the violin by the Suzuki method. As a child, she mostly studied classical violin music, but when musician friends of her Swedish mother visited, she listened to Swedish folk tunes. Ar seven years old, she moved to the North of England with her family , where there was a vibrant folk music culture. She started playing together with two friends in a fiddle trio, 'The Riding Mill Fiddlers'. A few years later, she joined the ceilidh band 'The Hedgehog's Skin', and had regular gigs with them at weekends, playing at weddings or parties. At the same time she attended summer courses in Sweden, where we met musicians such as Jonny Soling, Kalle Almlöf, Ellika Frisell, Per Gudmunsson etc. During that time she had fallen in love with Swedish folk music. In the early 2000s, she completed a three-year folk music performance course at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.
As well as solo work, she has recorded as Tuulikki Bartosik & Emma Reid, and as Robert Harbron & Emma Reid and Rob Harbron & Emma Reid.
