They've been playing together for over a year and a half now and are definitely bringing a new and much needed flair to the metal scene. Disregarding the chug-chug-riff-chug-sweep-chug formula used by many artists nowadays, Hey Look a Bear is a musical compilation of five completely unique musical tastes that range from rap to punk, acoustic to jazz, metal to dubstep, and almost anything else you could think of.
HLAB is composed of Zach Creel and Matt Johnson on guitars, Cory Freston on drums, Will Drake on bass, and Nathan Martin on lead vocals. As a band they spend the first year together making their music as tight and talented as they could without playing a single show. As the songs slowly began to form into the 9 tracks that fill the Hey Look a Bear EP! the band knew it was time to start playing shows.
After several months of playing shows as much as they could, HLAB took most of November and December to finish working on their new music, which defies the label of Metal music even more. HLAB is currently gearing up to start playing shows again as soon as possible in 2011, and come out with an all new lineup of songs and a style that continues to grow and change.
