The group became fairly recognized and popular shortly after their first few concerts. They have opened for such groups as Big D & The Kid's Table, Catch 22, and The Toasters. Their first album; "Lipstick for the Young and Faceless" was a 7 song EP that first featured their signature song "Gnomes". Gnomes was featured on 102.7 WEQX's Sunday Night Local Spotlight soon after. It was distributed freely at their first concert in 2004. A full length album titled "Cob Gobblers" was professionally produced in 05'. This album introduced the classic tracks; "Skank Skank Skank", "Beaver Muffins", "The Philosophy of Time Travel" and "Telephone". The Cob Gobblers period marked some of the band's most successful shows. By the summer of 06, the group became more distant from the local scene, and re-emerged for the release of their 3rd album in August of the same year. Hollywood Funeral strangely marked their CD Release Concert as their "Last Show Ever". "Silent Weapons for a Quiet War" was one of the band's greatest accomplishments, as it introduced new tracks, in addition to re-vamped versions of their greatest hits. A year after the band bid the capital district farewell, they reunited for 2 more Summer concerts in 2007.
The group has recently announced a new CD due out winter 2007. There are several tracks from this album available for download on the band's Myspace. It is also reported that signature vocalist John Pratt is no longer a member of the group.
