María Teresa Villegas Garcés, more commonly known as Isadora, is a Colombian ballad singer-songwriter and television businesswoman. She was born on March 22, 1953 in Cali, Colombia. She was orphaned at the age of 2 by her father and 14 by her mother. She began singing at the age of 5, inspired by her mother who studied singing at the Conservatory in Cali, Colombia and loved classical music.
To support herself, she worked as a secratary in the World Health Organization. She then entered the Departmental Institute of Fine Arts to educate her voice and the Universidad del Valle to study music. Together with composer Fernando Parra and Pedro Chang, author of the first lyrics of the songs performed by Isadora, they created El Grupo. She recorded nine albums with Sonolux, for the RCA Victor International Label. With the first LP, titled Isadora, they became known and with the second, Tenías Razón, from which several hits came out, including Tenlo present, Sabrás de mí, and Llamarada, they had national and international success in 1976.
