"in 1998 i received my first MIDI recording / editing software. it was Voyetra's Digital Orchestrator Plus... i had no MIDI instruments, but i found i was able to construct entire songs by using only my mouse and the computer's keyboard. in 1999 i bought my first synthesizer, a Roland XP-80. i have since bought and sold many other keyboards and sound modules... but the XP is still my main synth, and MIDI controller. when i first started composing i was very much into orchestral arrangments and piano pieces. as time has progressed however, i have moved into variations on those styles and into much more experimental and personal endevours. I have never had a whole lot of equipment, but rather i have used what was readily available to me to create and manipulate sound. i am self-taught in all aspects of music & sound design and i never will record a song until i feel like i am ready. i picked up my first Steve Roach cd, Lost Pieces Vol. 1, in 2001. his music has had a profound effect on my life since... in fact, in late 2004 i sent him two or three discs of my material, and he agreed to master and assemble what has become my first release, In Waking Moments, on the Hypnos label."
