That led to a recording contract with RCA in the 1960s that resulted in seven albums, including "Meet Marvelous Marilyn Maye," 'The Lamp Is Low" and "A Taste of Sherry!" She did well on the adult contemporary charts, reaching the top 10 with "Cabaret" (1966) and the following year's "Sherry" and "Step to the Rear." Maye became an in-demand nightclub and cabaret performer. She also was a favorite of Johnny Carson and appeared 76 times on "The Tonight Show" through 1979. In recent years, Maye has cut a series of CDs for her own label and still makes regular appearances in cabarets and concert halls around the country.
