The Story of My Life
Michael Holliday Lyrics
Someday I'm goin' to write
The story of my life
I'll tell about the night we met
And how my heart can't forget
The way you smiled at me
I like'd the world to know
The story of my life
The moment when your lips met mine
And that first exciting time
I held you close to me
The sorrow in our love was breakin' up
The mem'ry of a broken heart
An' later on, the joy of makin' up
Never, never more to part
There's one thing left to do
Before my story's through
I've got to take you for my wife
So the story of my life
Can start and end with you
The sorrow in our love was breakin' up
The mem'ry of a broken heart
An' later on, the joy of makin' up
Never, never more to part
There's one thing left to do
Before my story's through
I've got to take you for my wife
So the story of my life
Can start and end
Can start and end
Can start and end with you

I am 67 but can sing all the words of this song remembered from this year. What an impact he had on us! Gone but not forgotten.

This record has stayed with me all my life and I'm 83 now.. I was devastated when he died . In those days music was music! we all knew the words and many enjoyed singing along with the artists . Not much chance that this can happen in the future. Weren't we so lucky!

Hi Majorie, my Mum was still playing this when I was about 6 so around 1962. My Ol'Dad threatened to punch Michael in the chops if my Mum didn't stop "running around with him"!

Marjorie, it is my Mother's favourite song :) She's 88 now... She introduced me to this song in my early years, makes me feel young again (I'm 47 myself now!)
And don't be so sure re: the future, history has a habit of repeating :)... despite all the raucous noise there are still some decent songs being written now :) God bless

Lovely song. I first heard it in 1958 on the car radio going to Highbury to watch my beloved Arsenal play Blackpool who unfortunately won 3-2 with Stanley Matthews giving a masterclass. But this never spoilt my liking for Michael's tune and ever since, I've associated it with The Gunners !! such a simple piece but then they're often the best.
