At the tender ages of 26 and 25, respectively, Nick & Johns influences go way beyond the scope of any of their contemporaries. Born in America, but raised in Greece, the boys have meticulously honed their craft and are ready for their close-up.
Both brothers began a vast record collection of all kinds of electronic music and started DJing small parties in 1993 inspired by the big names of the time. Orbital, F.S.O.L., Aphex Twin, LFO and some earlier synth pop groups like New Order & Kraftwerk, to name a few, were their early favorites at an age (13 & 12 yrs old), when most of their friends were consumed with school & football. In 1994 they started hosting their own radio shows which would eventually stream to far out areas of Greece on major Greek FM stations. Their eclectic & dynamic sound would bring them toward the art of producing their own music in years to come.
In 1998 John decided to take the challenge even further & entered the DMC DJ Championship in Greece at the ripe age of 17. After winning the state championship he took place in the finals. Against the odds he scratched and cut up 4th place, winning the accolades of the Greek music press, who called him the star of the night & best young dj. The industry took notice of this new wonderkid who was invited by Universal Trilogy (one of the leading Greek electronic dance acts of the time) to join them as warm-up DJ for their European appearances. John would continue to tour and build his sound in his home country, culminating in the gig of his life by being invited to play the opening slot on Orbitals first ever tour of Greece in 2000. As if this mans rap sheet wasnt long enough, he also graduated from the Institute of Pasteur as a sound engineer, further increasing his experience and knowledge at such a young age.
From this point, the brothers made the difficult decision to uproot and move to New York City, which they felt was the epicenter for the music they were so involved in. Setting up the Dalasounds studio and getting to work on their productions was priority number one. Quickly the boys self released their first EP record in the USA, including two tracks, Fat Oscar/God Is Great, which gained praise from their intended targets. From this release, they became sought after by their favorite labels, which were after them for their remix touch. Remixes for labels owned by Satoshi Tomiie, Dave Seaman, Chris Fortier & Gpal, to name a few. While having these great remixing successes, the brothers joined Chris Fortier and his label (Fade records). Assisting Chris to run the label was not the only duty they got. The boys got busy with Chris in the studio as well, by producing, engineering, mixing, editing and recording all kind of projects. One of these was Chris Fortiers Balance 007 compilation. Their 2nd single Bend Up was released by Italys Mo-do Recordings, which took the brothers even higher, with not only never-ending DJ support, but also successful chart rankings on several of the sales chart indicators from the USA & UK. Their extended vocal remix of Micahs Come From was exclusively featured on Hernan Cattaneos Renaissance Masters 2 album.
In 2005 their original production Quiet (Steve is listening) was one of the main features on Audio Therapys album Across Borders, based on producers hailing from Greece and their alternative mix of it, entitled Quiet (Stelios is watching), was exclusively featured on Dave Seamans compilation This is Audio Therapy. The production and remixing front was even busier for Nick and John in 2006, including their upcoming single on Therapy Music titled "R2 Units Gone Wild" (original mix was included on Audio Therapys Spring/Summer Collection CD) as well as their latest original production Utapau, signed by Swift Records (original mix included on Gpals forthcoming album Gpal 2). The agenda also included remixing Stels and Phatjak's next big single "I Like Porno, on Baroque records. And if all this wasnt enough, Nick and John were responsible for a huge bulk of the production and engineering work on Stel's "This is Audiotherapy" CD mix which will be available in the near future as an accompaniment to Dave Seaman's already classic installment, as well as hitting the international circuit with gigs in North & Central America, Europe and Australia. From breaks to prog and tech to more experimental, Nick and Johns dj and production style can be described as a combination of lush atmospheric soundscapes, tweaked effects along driving basslines and powerful percussive rhythms.
