The Chinkees
The Chinkees are an organ-driven ska band (without horns), lead by Mike Park.
Their songs focus on racism, equality and personal experiences without being over-political.
"The Chinkees' name is not meant to be a racial slur, but just the opposite. It's meant to be a direct look at racism and the reality of it's presence" - Asian Man Records.

Big World
The Chinkees Lyrics
Looked up at the sky tonight
Saw the cold wind breathing through my sight
I thought about my dad tonight
And asked God, "Is he gonna be alright?"
And my mind thinks I can't give enough
And I can't pour enough
And my love is not enough in this big world
Sat and talked to dad today
He told me stories leaving for the states
No time to share my father's time
Just learning who this man is I call dad
And my mind thinks I can't give enough
And I can't pour enough
And my love is not enough in this big world

This guy sent me a personal postcard when I was sixteen... I still have the hoodie he mailed me from the business he started in his garage.

This song is so good. It's the song that got me into them in the first place. Awesome.

Isn't it? And poignant. Maybe it's well known that he wrote it after his dad passed away.

Ive actually been a fan of Ska for a long while. Mike Park is a big name in this world. i found his album Peace Thru Music in the punk section at a record shop. ive only heard of Skankin' Pickle at the time. read the back and found out it was ska. i picked it up. did not regret it.
