The English bunch are from Bolton, Lancashire, and claim to be 'made up of mill dust, dirt, grime and things that make your eyes water, all of which lazily took around 100 years to congeal into mucky stains. We're indolent, notoriously stubborn, belligerent and pretty much impossible to get rid off.'
Others have disputed this biography, saying that in reality the English band formed in 2001 and have gone through various line-ups. The current members are James 'The Hammer' Hamer on drums, Matt 'The Pest' Berry on bass, 'Uncle' Martin Mansell on guitar and Boardy on vocals. Influences touted are the rosters of both the Crypt and In The Red record labels, Mudhoney, Wire, The Fall, The Saints and various other noisy beggars, with elements of old school rock'n'roll, garage punk and r'n'b creeping into the bands racket.
Since their inception, The Kiss Off say they 'have brought their 'mission of noise and hate' to those members of the United Kingdom population who were born too late to be driven deaf by the rumble, clank and wheeze of heavy machinery. You lucky, lucky sods'. In 2006, Headpress magazine described their raucous style as 'like Jet Li with his collar off'. Some of the bands recordings can be heard at www.myspace.com/thebloodykissoff
