They mix traditional country with pop and Norwegian folk music, resulting in a unique musical output. The singer is a true storyteller and the instruments, especially the Hardanger fiddle and the steel guitar, enhance the melodies and tales.
The debut album, characteristically produced by Even Ormestad from the world-renowned Jaga Jazzist, earned them spots at festivals like the internationally famous Øya and Bukta, along with appearances on national television and radio. They had the pleasure of preforming with artists like Marit Larsen, Torgeir Waldemar and many more this summer at Oslo Fjordfest and they’ve opened for idols like Ida Jenshus and Sturgill Simpson.
Emphasized by her beautiful voice, Stine Andreassen’s lyrical honesty constitutes the backbone of the Northern Belle’s musical universe. The songs revolve around falling in and out of love, overthinking everything and growing up to become more like your parents than you’d like to admit.
5/6 “In essence, this debut is simply impressive, and there is currently no other band in the country working within the boundaries of the genre surpassing this young but cultivated band” - Nordlys
“I cannot really see any reason why the Norwegian audience should not wholeheartedly embrace The Northern Belles music.” – Dagens Næringsliv
“Dear music friends! This is one of the most beautiful records released this year. This is one of the most beautiful records released from any Norwegian band of all time.” – Dust of Daylight
